Are you doing all this to get 2Lo? I thought you were installing a crawl box

One of the reasons. Main reason is to get rid of the expensive actuators and the electronics in the system. Also, the front ADD leaves the front diff tube as a weak area. Not likely to break but with the weight I have, tires and lockers it’s another benefit.
    upload_2020-3-20_11-50-21.jpg

edit. Also this is all off the shelf components from toyota. So since they are in other drivetrains, putting them all together can’t necessarily be too bad.

the auto fjs have the sticks but they use the ADD as a fail safe to to prevent user area. The manual fjs are AWD setup which don’t have the ADD. Put them together and you have a less electronic setup. negatives are more shit is spinning so more wear on components. But that cons was outweighed by the pros. After seeing Joshs tcase fail and leave him immobile I decided this route.

all to avoid electrical actuators that didn't fail for 10+ years on the truck...

Us 3rd gens lucky to have 2LO with just a simple switch :)

Yep. Only a matter of time. I can do the yellow or grey wire mod on my truck too that does the same thing or something.
Either way it’s a neat little project. Considering I will be into this project for about the price of two new actuators but I’ll be getting all new parts and seals and stuff. Meh. To each their own.

Secretly just jealous of all those internet points I’ll be getting.

I just run in 4lo on the trail all the time :notsure: With my old truck, I even had the rear locker engaged for two days straight (left it engaged overnight while sleeping in camp). Guess this would be too damaging on 35s?

definitely can but you do feel the strain on the steering turning in 4x4. Plus the constant switching from 4low to 4 high when it gets to speed stuff got annoying. Stop, neutral wait for computer to do its thing. Now it’s just neutral and shift. Done.

This isn’t a necessary modification by any means. Just wanted to get rid of the electronics. All the dash lights will work the same and no pesky actuators. So say down the road if I do throw an axle up front it’s all ready to go other than the tremendous amounts of fab work....

also this tcase has the ability to have a speed sensor so if I do change out the rear axle I’ll still have a speedometer. Just thinking down the road.

That’s your locker switch. Evgeny has a 2wd low. Different. Think he had the ability to do locker anytime (2wd, 4hi and 4lo)

just the only thing that i'm aware of that resembled his button in appearance, but in function i know mine is my rear locker switch and that his is a 2WD LOW.
