Hold down the traction control button to turn it completely off, put it in 1st and fully apply skinny pedal.

The manual has slightly lower gears. You get better immediate throttle response but you rev higher on the highway. I actually liked the manual gen 3 I tested. The auto did feel like a Prius.

Quoting myself I 100% recommend URD heavy flywheel and Stage 2 clutch if you do go 35s or 315s

    I'll play.

Recently traded my '18 MT for a '20 AT. Both DCSB OR. It's my daily driver. After driving the MT for 2 years, I'm really happy with the switch to the AT. While some aspects of the MT were favorable, I much prefer the AT, especially as a daily. I bought the MT initially due to all the positive MT talk here on TW. Much of it due to AT programming which has since been fixed. I'll be honest, there wasn't a day that went by where I didn't want to get rid of it. If the trade in value wasn't so good, I probably would not have made the switch. They're not lieing when they say these have great resale value.

I'm not saying one is better than the other. It's great Toyota has the option for both. I just think the AT gets crapped on and one should really consider the pros and cons of each.

this is exactly what you get if you don't wake up the MT. factory configuration is a weak numb unresponsive experience. you can wake up the MT big time with planning and some effort but not as do-able on the AT side.

none of these trucks AT or MT drive near their potential off the showroom floor. same as most vehicles but the Tacoma is pretty exaggerated with that.

Oh I thought many times about getting the ovtune. I read a lot of posts by you and others about how well it worked. That's great there is that option.

While I had certain gripes about the way my MT performed, overall I came to the realization that a truck is more suited to an auto transmission for most uses. Especially as a daily. If it was a second vehicle, I may have kept it for fun and just had an auto car as a daily.

wasn't referring to OV specifically and that would definitely not be enough to make me happy with the MT, but whatever suits you is your right choice. i personally do not find MTs suitable for most drivers as they use this truck.
