I am making my first big buy today in a while. I’m adding to all my blue chip holdings. It’s too good of an opportunity to pass up. If they drop more, I’ll get more aggressive in buying.

Yup. As they say, you make money when you buy, not when you sell. So whatever you buy now, will make you a lot of money, if you are patient. Of course investor psychology prevents that for most. I bought a lot today.

I know man I am seriously fighting the urge to sell right now. Angel on one shoulder says hold it. Devil on the other shoulder says sell it, it will be low again and I can get in again.

A bit of a back story, I got out of the market a year ago waiting on the market to crash so I just got back in last week thinking that crash was good enough. Wondering if it really was good enough though. I’ve heard talks of a depression.
Regardless, I think i’m just going to hang in there and hold.

I would hang in if you won’t need the money for 10 years or longer. I’m buying with money I probably shouldn’t be using, haven’t and won’t sell, if that helps you at all.

I directed future contributions to my 401k to a stable value fund. Basically a bank account instead of a fire pit.

The dumpster fire that is the other stuff I am staying put on as it will come back. It always does.

Fortunately I did not have the insight some Senators had a few weeks ago so I was not able to dump it all like they did. Nor would I have. Shocker they thought they would not get caught!

I’m 28 so my 401k is still super aggressive and maxed in stocks and funds.. (I think 20% goes to bonds) Figure it will be fine for the next 20 years or so to keep contributing

They way I see it is, if you were willing to buy 30% ago (which I was), you better be willing to buy now, and if it drops more, you better find a way to get new money and buy even more!

Yeah man. Actually, I’ve been waiting for a crash or a depression/recession for a while now. That’s why I got out previously. I got paranoid because we had a 10 year market win streak. I told myself when the market crashed or we entered a bear market that I would get back in and go all in because I figure I won’t get another chance to do so.

I dont think we will have a depression, recession for sure, which isnt the end of the world. I think they need to come out with news of s medication to knock down the symptoms of this and reduce the sickness time and this will reverse pretty quickly. Once the news goes from evreything shutting down, to things opening back up the market will take off. Provided the .gov doesn't mess up and backstops losses. I have been somewhat happy with what they have been doing so far, they just need more clear communications on when this will end. Example of we hit this point in the dats then normalcey will start to return and so will market returns. I think that uncertantiy is driving fear in the markets.

Now if one is employed on the other side of this is the other wild card.

Serious question: anyone have any advice on how to market a consulting company in this environment?

I could be wrong, but I think with say a restaurant -- if they let staff go, those employees can file for unemployment, whereas if the employer just cut their shifts, they couldn't.

Again, I could be wrong, but "being fired" may not necessarily be as bad as staying hired but not getting any shifts.

This is true. This is why when employers are trying to get rid of someone they would rather get them to quit by making their life difficult or giving them the option to “walk away or be fired”.

Indeed. I've seen that happen a couple times - or they'll try to get the person to do something they can be fired "for cause" such as taking a swing at a manager or something.

    Should have sold :p

I left around 11:15 for a walk in the woods with the dog. Ran out to the pet store for food (if we do have to shelter in place....she's not getting my Ramen!), came home showered and checked the markets. When I left we were +3% ish, now....woopsies! Jesus. What a roller coaster.

Eh, I left my 401k still going to BTC. It'll rebound, and when it does, away we go.

Forgot to mention, the senators didn't necessarily have a lot more information than us. That story was kind of silly, yeah he was briefed that it was worse than people thought, but then again there was a bunch of news stories all over the place saying that this is bad/worse than other media is letting it gloss over. So. I don't think it's as bad as some of the news articles made it seem this morning when that came out.

26 here (27 in a month....if I make it). My Roth is 90/10, my 401k is with BTC 2060. 0.1% bonds. :) 5% REIT, otherwise for all intents and purposes it's 95% stocks. Yee haw! Leave it that way, if you are at 80/20 I'd even look to be more aggressive especially now for the rebound.

Good luck with consulting. I'm thinking I'm probably safe if layoffs happen if the plant chooses. I'm the most tenured QA Engineer, can't operate without QA, I am the repair station QA Manager, and have good perf reviews. So I'm hopeful. But if it's top level corporate decision, it's a crapshoot.
