Thank god I have a manual. I don’t want any of that automatic transmission technology garbage! I can only imagine what happens with age. I bet a lot of people will rip out this “auto tranny” technology over time. Tacoma has too much other garbage on it already like power locks, intermittent wipers, and maintenance reminder hooey!

They CAN recalibrate it they are just covering their ass. My window guy basically told me that these systems can easily accommodate lifts up to 6" without having any issues. Toyota just sucks.

ALSO, If you have them shut the system off permanently it just basically reverses start up procedure and starts the truck with the system off. leaving a light on in your dash. Not a solution if you ask me.

TURN IT OFF, KEEP THE LIGHT OFF.. do it right Toyota.

This isn't something they are going to do to your truck because you modified it. Rather, this is something you can ask them to do if you want them to do it. Many people have expressed interest in having this done.

And all 3rd gen owners insurance rates go up since rates were calculated on the extra safety features...

There's a reason these systems exist, and this is only one example.

This just happened to me yesterday on the way home from work. Made my heart stop as I was fully aware of my surroundings and all the sudden i hear the brake warning. Not a car in sight, wasn't changing lanes, nada. First time it's happened. checked the sensor, not spotless clean, but nowhere near dirty either.

I had mine go off for the first time driving a moderate curve around a peninsula with parallel parking on the side of the road. There was a parked car with its lights on including brake lights. I was steering left to round the bend and the alert fired when that vehicle was in front of my truck. I was startled but understood why it alerted. I keep the system enabled and am thankful to have it. Also note that you can configure the sensitivity of the system in the dash if you have a lot of false alerts.

Ive read that it’s because the truck is new? Maybe it’s learning. It only happened to me within 6 months of owning the truck.

    I don’t understand…

all the dealer needs to do is use techstream to disable the auto on setting. So all you have to do is turn the setting off and the setting won’t auto on every time you start up- like default. During the whole tss recall and all the modified trucks being denied, this is what they were doing anyways. So why permanently disable when you can do this and revert back on your own

Agreed. Aside from that one automatically coming back on with a key cycle, every other TSS-P system can be permanently turned off with the press of a button or changing a setting in the menu. Don’t understand why people hate it so much, nor why you’d “permanently disable” it and still have to contend with the warning lights

I think Toyota is offering this for people that have modified their trucks in ways that make the systems work improperly, and thus will disable it because they consider it safer to not have the system than to have the system not operating as designed.

Personally, I would never do this.

False. Insurance companies view technologies such as these as not mature enough to be taken into account by their actuaries. They neither positively nor negatively impact your rate.
About the only things right now they take into account are seat belts and airbags, as these have large bodies of evidence to support their effectiveness.

I confirmed this with multiple insurance agencies when shopping for a policy on my new truck.

Once this calibration has been performed, the PCS and DRCC systems will be PERMANENTLY DISABLED. Replacing the millimeter wave radar is REQUIRED to reinitiate the PCS and DRCC systems.

I'm fairly certain they're just going to unplug and/or remove the sensor under the hood lol.

    "Calibration complete!" :homer:

They could calibrate it for a 24ft lift if needed, (so kind-a dumb argument). Problem is where do they stop the stupidity and usual abuse from moronic users / installers, and accept liability for them? It's a lawsuit waiting to happen in America. IMO they are absolutle right not to provide any parameters outside stock, and providing an option to turn the shit off is the best option, better than what many other brands are offering, which is nothing.
