    I know i am stepping back here a couple of days but interested in the story behind these sliders. Strait, no angle, no outer tube, and no kickout. I am neither second guessing nor questioning the decison I am always just interested in the reasoning behind a decision like this. Hey, ya never know when you may learn something

    Well, I don't care for the sliders that hang off the truck like airplane wings. And I don't (think) I will need the kick-outs. And, I like clean and simple. I like my shit high and tight!

    These BudBuilt Rock Rails do not stick out and provide door-ding protection, and that's OK. I have had a couple rocky near-misses and want a little protection. They are a bit heavy, but there is no getting around that. As long as they are high and tight! :thumbsup:

    Nope the reasoning makes sense. hell we all have different ideas of what we need or like that's why I find other folks ideas interesting. No more than I still would claim to understand about any of this I am constantly learning. My reasoning was the sliders should protrude on the leading edge out to flush with the outer wall of the front tire to help eliminate things getting jammed between the tire and slider. With the constant taper outward from front to rear it would be an ever guiding slope pushing away from an obstacle ending with the kickout. I attempt to reason every mod as a tool. Have I made some mistakes, yep, but it's how i learn and never know where I will find something I haven't thought of. You should see all the thought i put into all the mods I did to the camper and ones still under consideration.

    Figuring things out and customizing is a big part of the fun! I don't see myself getting into a situation where I need side protection. (famous last words...) I am seeking protection for the kick panels coming down on a rock or stump. I am lucky as not to have damage so far.
