You can get an entire OEM cat back for around $520.

I replaced my rusted out stock muffler with a cheapo no- name turbo. Welded up and out the door of the muffler shop under $100.

Sounds ok on the 2.7, not loud or irritating.

So Originally the thought of changing my exhaust came because the truck sat, and my exhaust was rusted. I didn't know how bad so I was like maybe ill just put a sick stainless one on there. Then thanks to all of you'll,I went out there and got under the old truck, and start looking, then started thinking, this Exhaust has been on here 17 freaking year zero issues,
So I took some SOS pads and little water and got busy on it, and it turns out its in a lot better shape then I thought, So im just going to run it.!!!
    save money !

I think if you can save your OEM exhaust then do so, but lets say in the mid west, or in the snow a lot, then maybe stainless would be the way to go..im in the desert, so I get lucky with the rust issues, things just tend to just get surface

Stainless would definitely be recommended, I agree
When it comes to higher quality stuff, was it Borla I think? Crap I can't remember, I think Borla was good stuff and those looking for value and economy level stuff I think I've read that Walker was a good brand for that. Really just depends on how much you want to spend or how high end of an exhaust system you want.
I think someone here on the forum replaced there exhaust with Borla too. Maybe a search would turn it up. I'm rambling, Anywho :D

I use the Walker factory replacement simple to change if something fails far from home most times it is overnight or 2 days .

some fancy aftermarket can get interesting to find a dealer only to find out it is a week away

yep, I've had 2 Walker mufflers after the OEM lasted almost 7 years in salt. I need to get a new one now since the rear tailpipe came off. also my exhaust is pieced together from rusting but this year I may buy all new Walker parts to replace from teh front cat back to save trouble

I am very impressed with the Bosal factory replacement. It’s just slightly louder than stock but does not sound as “tuned” as the stock system. My truck had some tiny replacement when I bought it and it sounded meh. I low balled and scored a 3rd gen TRD pro muffler welded it to a new walker intermediate pipe and had it dumped before the axle. It sounded good like a long case borla but way louder and resonated a lot around 2000rpm. Cut it off and an welded a dynomax super turbo 747 big case center offset muffler. It was quieter than the factory trd pro but got louder and resonated as the packing matured however the truck pulled way harder than the trd pro muffler but it lacked the torque presumably from lack of back pressure or whatever we argue about but it was noticeable, like if you didn’t give it constant throttle it would wind down as fast as it winded up. Took a gamble on a bosal after reading some good reviews. Amazon wouldn’t ship it to Hawaii but Autozone, autozone of all places had a promo for 20% off and free shipping. They honored that and shipped the damn thing to Hawaii for free! It came via fedex and it wasn’t damaged at all. The fit and finish exceeded expect. I installed it in an afternoon and it was everything I wanted in a muffler: good sound that isn’t high school flowmaster loud nor is it Lexus quiet. It’s mellow during cruise and throaty when you gun it.

TL : DR: Bosal factory replacement is the tits. Just slightly louder than stock.

Glad I stumbled on this thread. Installed my 24" Magnaflow about 10 years ago and it's held up perfectly and still sounds good to this day. However, I'm getting old and was looking at my options to quiet it down a little, was thinking of doing an OEM 3rd gen muffler but may do this instead. I'm from Oahu too and the first thing I check is the shipping cost, lol.

Also, if you don't mind, what is the part number of the muffler you bought? Thanks.
