I got my notice to get my frame inspected.
Called dealer to set up inspection and to discuss process,I informed him my frame is treated with Fluid film every year and that I would refuse any type of undercoating that would just lock in moisture and hide rust. He told me they shoot some kind of wax inside frame now. Does anyone know for sure what it is they are putting on our trucks?

It's just that, its a wax they spray into the front channels to prevent water from corroding the frame from the inside out.

There is no exterior applications on this recall.

I would do it, the frames that are failing are rusting from the inside out, no undercoating can prevent that.

You can decline it, it just won't be covered if the rust were to form.

I personally haven't seen a frame rot that was taken care of. Most of the trucks with rotten frames are guy's who never wand wash, and let the truck age with no care.

The last frame I did had cigarettes under the carpet for some reason. Numerous problems top to bottom.

    Thanks
Are you familiar with the process?
I never let anyone touch my vehicles I turn my own wrenches .
Is there much potential for them to fuck up my truck with process?

I don't really see how they could hurt or damage anything, it's just a rust preventative measure they're taking so they don't have to shell out the big bucks for a new frame for every 2nd gen Taco. Like another member already said, you can refuse it, but don't expect your frame to be warrantied if/when it does develop a rust problem. I turn all my own wrenches too, but unfortunately missed out on the frame undercoating on mine. Just make sure you take off any rust you can find before you get it coated.

Keep us updated if you get it done. I’m in the same boat as you, I FF mine the day I brought it home from the dealer and reapply every fall.

They hot air dry the inside box sections of your frame and use long wands to spray the coating in. Nothing to worry about.

Our guys haven't been trained on it yet, but the documents I saw showed a hot / forced air drying system that looked pretty neat. I hear our dealership is getting the equipment and training next month and I offered my truck up as a training vehicle if they need it. No matter what, I will definitely be getting the process done to mine.

If you are willing to do a similar application with the same tools and workmanship every year, you can get better results. One application is just to extend anti rust through, not prevent rust altogether.
I plan to keep oiling and greasing on top of what they do. They said it’s all right.

Just got mine out of the shop last week after having it done. All they do is wand wash the inside (on mine the washed the entire underside as well) of the boxed portion of the frame (from the cab forward), dry it out and then spray a coating inside the boxed part. I haven't had a good chance to look really close but it seems to be a waxy product. They then insert a plug kit in certain holes along the frame sides to seal up. Nothing comes apart that I can tell.
Was a nice clean operation on mine, no big messes anywhere that I could see...has an odd odour to it though, not offensive, just noticable.
