I hear ya. Only reason I pulled the trigger on those was last summer the exchange rate was in my favor and the bids were low, so they weren't too bad. Plus, I just had to satisfy my inner tater. I will say... they are pretty damn good, but so are a lot of more widely available bottles.

I resemble that remark! I've got several bottles I want to open, but just can't until I kill a few first.

I'm the same - I can have 1 or 2 bourbons, 1 or 2 Scotches and 1 or 2 Japanese whiskies open but no more than that. Usually 4-5 at the most is the number I can live with. It is limiting...

Plenty of good sub-$50 bourbon out there, but there is something about getting an unobtainable bottle.

I have personally seen $200 regular Blanton's on my last trip back to CA, and have heard of it being in the $300 range. It's good at retail price, but I feel bad for anybody paying resale prices.

I visit a buddy down in San Diego a couple of times a year and I like seeing all of the variety. Oregon only has the Rye, American, and Small Batch Bourbon allocated.

And then there's things like this that make us scratch our heads wondering why we're paying so much! To quote @bvbull200 .. it's all FOMO!

And for those that don't have or can't see IG..

I started paying attention to prices instead of the shiny bottles that I wanted. There's a place in Omaha that has a really nice selection to go look at..but their prices are through the roof! Nearly everything in that store I can find at other places and at much cheaper prices!

Shit, open them bottles up. If the cork seals, the whiskey isn't changing. Any given time it'll be between 20-60 open bottles.

I've been curating the stash a little more closely, lately, so the bottle count is coming down, but I'd guess there are still around 40 opens right now.

It's good for when you have guests over. Tons of options for sharing!

Start an Infinity bottle. Whenever I get down to about 150 ml left, I either finish that night or dump into infinity bottle. I only put 100 plus proof in mine to keep it strong. I try to keep it at least 75% full at all times to maintain flavor. Just started a new one in Feb. after I let old one get too low and lost flavor less than 1/2 full.

Since they are single barrel you'll get different results from one to another, sorta like Blanton's. I've got one open now, found it's decent and I do like it, but it doesn't live up to the hype around it (TW keeps it hidden behind the counter with the allocated stuff). But everyone's taste is different so let us know how you like it.
