I’m looking at adding a sub to a 2017 Tacoma double cab but I don’t want to restrict myself to a low profile sub. Does anyone have any suggestions? My only idea would be to either fab something up so I can install a second driver side rear seat. Any advice would be helpful.

Is something like what OEM audio plus offers considered low pro?

Yeah, I’m trying to put something big in but I don’t wanna put a box in the seat or loose one of the other seats.

If you want something big, your only option really is to remove one of the rear seats. I would recommend 3 shallow mounts behind the rear seats.

So I want to only remove the middle portion of the rear seat and have the sub between the, then, two rear seats. I'm an aircraft mechanic so I'm mechanically inclined; but, my metal fabricating experience is limited. Would you happen to have any suggestions on how or if i can remove the middle/passenger side and install a second driver-side rear seat? And I know that the storage underneath would have to be worked as well, that I'll be able manage on my own just fine.

Aside from the shape of the seats being wrong (you will have sharp corners where there should be round corners) you would need to drill and put in new mounts on the passenger side floor to bolt the seats to. You may need to move the latch striker on the back wall over to match where the new seat would go.

If you want to get a good idea of what would be needed, I recommend pulling both rear seats out, and put the drivers side one onto the passenger side. This will show you where you need to drill and thread.

Seat belts wont be a issue as they are symmetrical from side to side.

You may also make your truck unsafe for rear seat riders by putting in new seat mounting points. Granted the seat belt is what takes impact in a collision, but the seat could break loose and cause some injury.

Thank you very much! I didn’t even think of lining it up before getting the new seat so doing that with the stock one is a great idea! Hopefully I won’t have to worry about the seat latch cause I’m slightly worried about it. I’m currently deployed but I’ll post pictures when I get back
