agree with alot of posts above. my guess is that she is generally a mild
driver, but when approaching an intersection with a left-turn yellow light, she guns it and hooks that turn to avoid hitting the red light.. add to that the slightly higher center of gravity of a Juke - and that's your problem for the front right tire outside wear.

ask me how I know - I have a mazda 3 with the same outside edge wear on the right front tire, but not as severe since i have less vehicle mass/body roll.

and I rotate my tires every 5-7,000 miles

Another point is to teach every driver to walk around the vehicle at least once a week. This is even more important if the vehicle has multiple drivers.

I'm lucky if the tires on my Miata last 20k. I drive it like I stole it, and they go quick. It's the price I pay for the thrills of cornering like it's on rails.

    Anecdotal story here.

My wife's Jeep had Michelin Premier LTX tires and was down to 4-5/32" at 35,000 on a rated 50,000 mile with even wear and good tire maintenance. I was surprised to see that even new these tires only had 8/32 of tread from new (their Defender LTX has 12/32 of tread). I don't know if I'd be able to safely get the 50,000 miles out of them, especially with winter coming. I ultimately replaced them 2 weeks before Christmas and was done with them. My wife has a tendency to be harder on tires than I am for whatever reason, but some cursory research on Tire Rack / forums showed at least amongst Jeep owners this was not uncommon.

The local tire shop said in general he stopped selling a chunk of Michelins because he noticed people were simply not getting the treadlife out of them that they had expected. I don't know if it's because the OEMs are looking for fuel economy and skimping on tread relative to non-OEM tires is a way around this.

I don't know if this is the case for the non-OEM stuff as I've got a set of Michelin runflats on my C5 that I have no complaints about besides being due for a new set due to the date codes. I had a set of Pilot Super Sports on my STi that were unreal. One managed to balance with only a single tab of weight and they had grip for days.

I'm not gonna blame michelin for this one either - it looks like the car isn't being aligned regularly and the tires probably aren't being rotated enough - being that is a daughter's car - I'm guessing car maintenance is an afterthought. If you want crappy tires, try some of the lower brands that cost $60/tire.

I had a set of Pirellis on my Honda Civic, and they were rated for 90,000 miles, best tires ever, wore nicely, performed immensely and I will buy them again in a heartbeat. Worth the extra money.

it sure doesn't hurt and an alignment is cheap. most people i know align once a year. my biggest beef with alignments is, most places don't do enough actual work - they just put it on the rack get the indicators green and call it a day. i took my tacoma into an alignment specialist b/c the dealer couldn't get it right after 2 attempts.

the guy drives the truck right into the shop after i just got done explaining the wheel not being straight and the issues i'm having.

my first thought was - maybe you should drive it and confirm my gripes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i swear are mechanics getting worse these days? it seems to be the case.

Front wheel drive car, clearly not rotated and possibly under inflated. Getting 42k miles of life without rotating is quite impressive.

I’ve been aware of Michelin tires since early 70s and they were among the first to develop and offer radial tires. I’ve tried them all but had great results using Michelin brand and Bridgestone. It’s been my experience in buying new cars the manufacturers always put a cheap fast wearing tire on to save a few bucks. Wife’s Prius ate a set of tires in less than 25k miles. You cannot blame the manufacturers for tire life if you don’t follow instructions on rotation and alignment. I’ll continue to use this brand as I’ve had great service life and performance and they do cost a little more. As an older person I can relate to how far tire technology has come since I started driving around 1972. Recap tires were still legal and available back then @ about 15 dollars apiece, imagine that. Any of you remember bias ply tires now those were crap and lasted about 10 maybe 15 k if you were gentle.

My Michelin Energy Savers were pretty much shot after about a year and a half and less than 20K miles!

Pirellis are nice. You get what you pay for and with those you pay a lot. I had stock Continental tires on my Civic and they were pretty awesome. Bought Michelin winters and they were also awesome.
