I hope you are right but I have my doubts. Each season with Brady the team had a learning curve, even if they had won the Superbowl the year before. 2 and 2 was not uncommon. But they always seem to improve and ended up peaking at the right time come play-off time. Last year was weird in that they were the opposite, tough in the beginning and everyone talking about them going undefeated then trashing them at the end of the season and accurately predicting they would be lucky to make it out of the first round. Last year's schedule was incredibly easy for the first 8 games they went 8-0. And only marginally tougher the last 8 games. This year the schedule is brutal if the same teams that were decent last year are decent again this year. They may win the Division since the other teams in their division have to play those same tough teams but if so it might be with a 9-8 record or 10-7, maybe even 8-9. The off season trading is far from over and the draft has not happened so they can fill some holes in their roster but I get the feeling they are going to throw Stidham to the wolves this year. Their defense has lost multiple big impact players and they have almost no cap room to sign new, proven talent. They also have some serious holes to fill on offense beyond the QB position. Add on losing Scar coaching the line and it is not a pretty picture.

I can too. The way everything has happened so quickly, it's not going away as quick as it got here. Football will/should be starting soon enough, no other sports will be played between now and then though. It's a tough season we're in.

My brother in law theorizes Bill and Kraft have been at odds over what to do with Tom for a while..specifically thinks BB wanted to deal Brady instead of Jimmy G but Kraft vetoed it. Gonna be real interesting to see what goes down...

Eh..Not sure about win the East, Buffalo was nipping at their heels last year.

My thought last year especially as it went on was the Pats would get the division title, but anything in the playoffs would be gravy. The fan in me obviously still wanted to win, but the realist in me said the above.

 

Yeah, this is absolutely a rebuild year. One of Bill Belichick's good friends, Mike Lombardi, stated it the other day on his podcast. It has been a long time since every regular season game mattered for the Patriots. I personally think this is rejuvenating Bill because of this as he wanted to do this for a while now.

 

Tampa getting Brady is definitely an upgrade. Winston threw 30 INTs last year compared to Brady throwing 29 in the last 4 years. That said, Tampa's going nowhere.

 

I am not sure. Tampa lost a lot of close games last year. If you took away two thirds of those interceptions then they are in the playoffs.

 

They might make the playoffs but you can't stop father time. In football years Tom Brady is old and it will start to show.

2020 opponent schedule is already set. I doubt it will be for 2020.

 

Shower thought:

With an odd-numbered season, how do they consider which teams get 9 regular season home games and which only get 8? Do they just shuffle in the preseason games (which do not generate the same revenue as regular season) into the mix and pretend it’s good?

Half the league is going to miss out.

The fair thing to do is if you pull only 8 home games in 2020 you are guaranteed 9 the next year.
