Just want to throw up some quick photos of this. I will be living in it for many years while traveling North and South America. And yes, the truck will be heavily modified to compensate for the weight. And yes, that doesn’t change GVWR on paper.

But this thread is for the photos. I’ll have an actual write up about everything in my build thread soon.

Wow!! Looks like a lot of fun! Keep us updated on your travels. What kind of mods are you planning for the extra weight and is the dog going with you?

Are you going to pair the airbags with Daystar Cradles?

Yes, I have those too. Just haven’t had a chance to do the install yet because I want to make a video of it.

Great adventure! and looks like the Tacoma has adequate mods to handle the weight. But I have to ask... why not a larger more powerful truck to start with. A Tundra maybe or a Raptor. With the weight the Tacoma will be carrying, I doubt there would be much loss of fuel efficiency with a larger more powerful truck. Just a thought.

Reason is because I had the Tacoma and modded it out long before I ever made the decision to live like this. If I could, I would maybe do this with a Ram. But I would never sell the truck at this point. Also, I think the smaller form factor will be nice.

I wouldn't trust a Raptor to take me through South America. Tundra, yes, but then the fuel mileage would be similar to what he's going to get in his Tacoma and he also is driving a massive tank around, ever been to some of those third world countries, their roads are tiny. I think a Tacoma, with some suspension mods he's already planning is a perfect platform for his adventure.

Maybe you're already planning this, but I would make sure to have at least one spare tire. Going through Central and South America, I would probably figure out a way to hold two.
