Someone backed into the back right quarter panel of my truck while in a hotel parking lot. I left for a couple hours, then came back to find a giant dent in my truck. No note. No nothing. I asked the hotel for security camera footage and nothing. There was not paint from the other vehicle so I have no idea which one did it. Now I'm stuck with a 500 dollar bill (deductible) and the auto body shop is going to have my truck for 2 weeks to fix it all because some jackass hit me. This is about 2,800 in damage. I understand the other person may not have had insurance or the money to pay for it, but it's so frustrating that someone would do this and just leave. Ok rant over. Thanks for being my diary tacomaworld

    I hate people sometimes.

    Here's to a speedy recovery, @McStudMuffin.

Damn man. That sucks! My heart goes out to you man. Its one thing to have your truck damaged, but for someone to hit it and not have any remorse or guilt is bullshit.

Hopefully this gets resolved without to much drama

No I didn't try. The body shop is going to replace the entire fender. Apparently it's cheaper for them to do that then spend the hours of labor fixing it. I could try but I don't think I'd ever get it to look right. The entire back portion is caved in. But it's not like I'm going to screw it up more either

I bet a PDR guy could pull that and you'd be the only one that notices it.

Not doubting you, just noticing the lack of scratches. That's the same area several owners have had damaged from automated car washes.

That sucks. However, keep things in perspective. Next Thursday (3/26/2020), new weekly unemployment claims figures come out, estimates are between 2 - 3 million. Last weeks new unemployment claims were ~280,000.

It might be worth asking a dent repair guy just to be sure, they do some very cool things.

Wouldn't be surprised if the body shop uses a PDR guy while they have your truck for 2 weeks. :notsure:

Honestly, save yourself the $500 deductible.

Hair dryer/heat gun to warm the area up. Pop it out by hand or with a mallet. You'll be surprised how unnoticable it will be.

I had a tree make a similar dent in front of the wheel well. I had to take the fender liner out, but looks like you should be able to reach under straight from below. Only thing left is the scratches in the clear coat...
