Yep, seen him on TFLTruck testing Toyotas with Ontario plates. Helps to be in driving distance with Toyota Canada's head office in Scarborough for getting press vehicles.

It is also great to be able to start the truck without jumping in, just be damn careful you are not in gear or it will launch on level ground.

I always let my truck come to temperature before I drive it winter or summer.

I have used the switch only 2 times to get it out of a difficult situation, probably a lot of stress on the starter?

From a Theoretical viewpoint, the offroad use of the clutch cancel doesn’t over stress the starter. Part of the nature of DC motors, is that they have most torque potential when not spinning, think diesel electric trains. The bigger concern OFFROAD would be running it too long and overheating it, cranking too long after the motor fires up and hurting some teeth on starter/flywheel, or simply draining your battery.

I have not used that button while OFFROAD in my Taco, but my previous 22re 4Runners all got their CC buttons exercised. I seemed to do more stalling when there was no power on tap haha.

In the taco, I use the button almost everyday in the winter. I start the truck through the passenger side door, so any snow that falls off the roof before I brush it off lands in the seat my ass won’t be sitting in. Open passenger door, reach across to press button, wiggle shifter, start, close door and remove snow.

This is exactly what I do in the winter every day.

Thanks for explaining the mechanical process of using this off-road!

swivel heads, meaning you can rotate and adjust them to whereever you want them to point.

and the wiring harnesses on Amazon are all the same, regardless who you get it from. It will work on those lights you had linked.

Hey guys, many of you here have skid plates on your tacos. Did anyone have trouble installing the mid plate, rear two bolts? (Bottom left plate, the bolts I'm asking about are the two on each side of the oil drain plug hole)IMG_20200319_1659055.jpg
Edit: those two bolts don't fit, like there is no thread in those holes, or like the bolts are a size or two too large

I have a set of RCI plates, I've not had any issues installing them other than the 1 bolt right beside the Cat on the driver side, just needed an extension for it.

    which ones are those?

Budbuilt. Seem really high quality, great match so far, it's the two holes in the frame that are giving me trouble. Either that or my bolts are too big, but I thought all bolt holes would be the same size on the frame

Should use OEM bolts there, unless you paid extra for the stainless hardware kit. Can't remember if M10 or M12, but it's the same hardware as the front skid.

check if the bolts you have been supplied are simply not too short.

Not sure why it didn't come to mind, but there were 2 bolts i had to swap out for longer ones, It was 2 M8 bolts at 2 inches long or something.. This is right beside one of the connections to the LCA. but i'm not sure if Budbuilt uses the same mounting location or not.

I'm using the stainless steel, the kit came really well labelled, so I'm using the correct bolt provided, and the other two bolts were exactly the same size on that plate. But I'm wondering whether the holes in the frame are all threaded, or whether those two holes are a smaller size. I have a hard time checking as I'm working on the ground. Not much space there.

Edit: length seems correct, I am reaching the hole (I think), just can't get it to thread on.

If you have a Sport and your using the rear most holes on the frame you'll need to tap those holes out. The off-road models have a tin plate that uses those holes, Sport models do not.

if a Canadian tire is still open, go get the same 2 bolts you have on hand (go with Grade 5) and check if a longer bolt will help.
