Purchased a Taco Tabs set of alignment plates. Curious if others have installed them and how accurate was the wheel alignment when done?

Not expecting any issues getting the bolts and cams out. Been a while but pretty sure when I had them out a few years ago, I applied Mastinox to prevent corrosion.

Fingers crossed the plates give good alignment numbers when I align it.

Are you talking about the Total Chaos cam tabs?

I think you may be confused, the link above seems like it eliminates the alignment cams and gives you the option of all the way in, neutral, or all the way out. The pics on poly performances website also look to have the total chaos gussets installed as well for strength. With out fully adjustable upper arms these only give you three options for alignment per bushing. That being said this is the first time I’ve seen these so I may be missing something.

    Not confused at all.

Correct, these eliminate the adjuster cams and allow preset positions of min, max and centered.

Using Total Chaos alignment cam beef up can be used with this also.

I already purchased the Taco Tabs, just have not found time to install them yet. Was asking to see if others that used them knew how the alignment numbers turned out.

Gotcha. Seems like you have a solid plan then. Just wanted to be sure, I’ve seen a lot of silly things posted over the years hahaha. I’m looking forward to see how it turns out, if the numbers work out good it does seem like a good idea.

There are variants of this sort of system - made years ago for early Mustangs that had the same ignorant adjustment system as the Tacoma. Made by "Global Suspension" and maybe still? The square plates provided for being installed with about 9 different centers by using the four sides of the square and a center and flipping the plates over. They worked to solve the cam slip on my auto-crossed 67 Cougar.

The only people I've seen eliminate their alignment cams have done so with an adjustable UCA - heimed or SPCs.

You'll probably be able to get it close, but not exact.

Also, hope you're doing your own alignments, or know of a competent shop to align it.

Digging in my files for stuff about the old Cougar lower suspension adjustment kit - I realized the manufacturer of the parts was "Global West". The cam replacement plates looked like these:
    Global West Mustang-Cougar 5 Position Adjustment Loc-out.jpg
After we got the geometry right where we wanted it - by flipping the plates around - I made four new plates with single holes where it worked best. Should work for the Tacoma too.

Also Moog makes a kit K100128 that has the lower bolts drilled for a grease zerk. This seems like a good idea to me and I would think that the engineering of the bolts with milled flats must have been worked out by pros. Not sure their cams are the best design but combined with a set of fixed plates and new bushings it could be pretty rugged.

Seems the MOOG setup would be lubing the rubber pivot bushings ID. Also, if you pump grease in at the head, the easiest path of flow is along the flat and out the threads at the nut.

I’m looking at these too, thinking of making blank plates to drill once the alignment is put in spec.

Been simply too busy with non Tacoma stuff to get around to installing the Taco Tabs. FWIW, is suspect from a cost standpoint, buying the Taco Tab setup is worth the added costs when you consider it also includes the large bolts needed to do this. Granted, you can buy bolts, but sorting out diameters and lengths, then locating them to purchase takes time and effort.

True, I have some tool steel and the proper equipment to make them. Sorting Bolts isn’t too hard, I’m doing that for some second hand skid plates. Once I get the bolts sized I’ll post it up to make it easier for those willing to fabricate their own. Might start a thread.

Thats cool and all, but most folks probably need to just but a kit.

For some reason, before Taco Tabs were available, I was under the impression some had removed the cams entirely and went with bolts matching the cam size. They used a pry bar to get it aligned, and tightened those bolts. The oversize bolts clamped enough to prevent movement.

Taco Tabs kind of do this, but the alignment plates eliminate using a prybar, but also limit the settings possible.

Anybody have 6°caster and closer to 0°camber? I tried the recommended neutral front/max out rear and numbers are good but I would like closer to 0 camber but don't want to take apart the LCA if it goes positive
