I've checked all the ground locations under the hood. The one you mentioned on the driver side I was unaware of, I'll check it out, thanks.

Gave her throttle plate a good cleaning. Lot of crap on that thing..will probably have more sensitivity in the gas pedal now.

Managed to flood the engine as well bc it took several turns to crank and a good bit of white smoke. Not sure if that was due to holding open the throttle to clean it or the throttle cleaner I used. Runs fine now. Rag is covered in gunk. One day I'll pull the whole thing out and give it a proper douche.

Just pulled the cat off my exhaust chasing a very annoying exhaust rattle.
I hit the LCE header and it STILL rattled. It sounded like a loose nut or bolt, went over everything checking for something loose.
    You know what it was?

A random bolt had fallen IN BETWEEN the 4 exhaust runners and was sitting right behind the collector. There was no way I could see this, I only found it by sticking a magnet in there and out it came.
I guess I dropped this bolt in there a while ago and never noticed.

Sort of unrelated but equally annoying. I got this manifold for my is300 and it rattles. The cats are fine but they left a cutout from one of the O2 bungs I'm the pipe :/

I'm literally fighting with it right now. I dug out my endoscope and I'm pretty sure I see what's in there but I can't seem to get it to dump out. Gonna grab the vacuum

I used an extendable magnet to get my rattle creator, it might work for you depending on the bends.

Can see the edge of the seam it was poking through on, my boss would have my ass if I let those kinds of loose wire ends slip by on a customers item. Oh well, all's well that ends well, still a nice Magnaflow product and their cats are decently sized unlike some of the cheaper ones from Walker or Pacesetter

So I bought a 2002 4Runner ECU off of EBay as an experiment to see if the tune is any different. I just realized that some of the 4Runner ECUs come with a programmer key which my Tacoma doesn’t have.

does anyone know if a 4Runner ignition will just plug in somehow and how you would go about programming a master key?

    Rack mount bushings

After you rebuild or replace it if you care about the leak

No they dont... they have regular dumb keys

01/02 4 runners have the electronic throttle bodies that 03/04 tacomas have and the tune is shit... theyre tuned for nice smooth shifts and tell you to calm down if you floor it
    (i have one)

Whereas earlier trucks with the cable tb give you full throttle when you ask for it
    (I had one)

    Right. That’s why I bought a 02 runner ECU.

I’ve been considering buying an earlier ECU, throttle body, and Engine Harness to swap it back. I’m just not sure if my Auto Transmission will work with it.

Same... i have the carcass of my 95 tacoma its tempting me to put the tb harness trans and all that jaz into the 4 runner so it responds like that truck did

The brakes have been acting funny and all the driver aid lights just lit up... its tempting to gut all that now and go for the older drivetrain swap even though it is a big endevour

Damn. I didn’t think about ABS. Did any of the 95-02 Trucks have ABS? Also curious if a 95 ECU would notice a EGR missing.

There wasnt an egr on any non emissions 5vz

95-97 didnt have abs period... it was awesome it was just you and the truck no interventions

97 is the only year id look for its just an ecu for the engine and trans plus you can boost them

Yeah i believe in 98 they started with abs but my buddies 97 4 runner only has 3 lines (2 front 1 to the rear) coming from the abs pump but i have 4 lines to all 4 wheels

It was an option for a few years, at least through 2000. My 2000 does not have ABS.

Too bad they made it so deadened. My 03 IS300 has an e throttle and it's snappy
