I honestly think they have it mixed up. they told me they gave me flat because I asked for the off road tow package version.

ha well if you didn't say anything you got the stepped one. If you told them you had the off road tow package then you got the flat one but seems to be the opposite. Either way they are exchanging it but they told me the flat was for the tow package which doesnt line up to mine at least and I assume yours (but you prob lucked out)

With how heavy the truck is I do feel an improvement and more bite. I am pretty sure I have some air in the lines somewhere. Usually braking is solid but once and awhile I get some spongyness. I had a TR4 setup before this that sometimes had it as well but did stop the truck sooner than stock about 10-12% based on distance stops.

Anyone have tips to get to the last bolt/nut underneath here? do I need to fully remove this or can you get to it without? last guy preventing the valve cover from coming off.

If you have a later 2nd gen then you should know if you replaced cam gears. Sooo close....

And that boys is how you take off a press-on pulley and not damage it. I swore I’d never take this 2.55 pulley off after going through the 2.85, 2.7, and 2.6

Thanks to @12TRDTacoma I’m finally doing a 2.3 :D I’m surprised how light Nate makes his aluminum pulleys. It’s probably 1/4 of the weight of my 2.55

There is a bolt on the side of the cylinder head for those sai control valves. Took me a while to find it because you can’t see it. Had to just feel around the side of the cylinder head below those valves for the bolt which is connected via a small metal bracket which is part of the sai valve assembly, believe it’s the same size as the ones you removed on top. Pretty sure you have to remove it to get the valve cover off and pretty sure there’s only one bolt left under there preventing you from removing that sai assembly. I think I was able to use a craftsman 1/2” ratchet with Appropriate socket. Otherwise an open end Wrench would be the other option. Been a while since I did cam gears hopefully I’m remembering correctly! Good luck!

Well for having a SC pulley ratio equivalent to about a size 2.3 pulley I’m pretty astounded how good the bearings still were. I ran the NST and 2.55 pulley for about 7 years. And 2.6 and NST for a couple years before that. I got about 100k miles on the TRD blower. And rotors look great too!!

I commend you boys dremeling around the snout with the blower still on the engine for these 2.3 pulleys. Much easier dremeling with the snout off :D

Just be careful not to bend the hard lines. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get that bullshit manifold back on once you take it off if you bend the lines even just a little bit.

Attaboy! the 2.3 is still my favoritest mod out of all these blower mods and the fact that the pulley weighs next to nothing really allows this blower to rev up lightning fast.

Sounds like someone got a small bit of the mod bug that bit him!

Well since I’m upgrading to a 2.3 with NST kit might as well rebuild the SC in the garage too

    And a couple other mods...;)

I need to replace my snout bearings. I think I had defective ones. They EVERRRRR so slightly chirp but it's enough to piss me off.
