I was raised in Yorktown and always thought of Houston as being in North Texas, but if you look at a map of this big state it technically is in SE Texas.

    Good Morning Folks:hattip:.

No need to wait Bill. all age groups welcome. Like having young folks around to keep an eye on senior citizens and make sure we're staying out of troubleo_O. Welcome to the porch:thumbsup:

Spring has sprung Mark and the end of March is trying to go out like a lion with snow:annoyed:. Hope it is less than predicted.

I turned 60 last year but found this forum just a minute ago, looks good to me through the years I’ve owned a bunch of Toyota trucks and currently have three 06 models. X runner, then a LBDC SR5 and finally a sport SBDC. Love em all. Just by chance they are colors red, white and blue.

Good afternoon to some of you, still mid morning for us out here on the left coast. Out with the pup last night, little over 90 minutes to snowshoe to a spot I've used a few times. Luckily when my steam was getting taxed, I followed some snowmobile tracks for a mile.

Welcome Gen2 and it looks like you had a great time camping, Duane!

So far we've only had some light snow and sleet here in northeast PA - and it's all melted at this point. I'm hoping it stay like this.

    Be safe!!

@hikerduane Looks like a good time -winter camping (guess it is spring :)) and snowshoeing. I am envious of you, living where you do, sounds like you can take off (on foot) from the house and camp or snowshoe. As most "everything" closes down here in Colorado, the wife and I were going to head for the mountains for some quiet time and snowshoe. But our favorite place to snowshoe Rocky Mountain NP closed its gates :(.

Side note, I see you have a Great Agnes tent - great products. We use their sleeping bags.

    Enjoy the Day

The BA tent I got a year ago, wish it was a little lighter, don't care for the hub system. My sleeping bags are Western Mountaineering, a quilt from EE and one from Zpacks. It is nice that I have FS land a 5 minute walk away. I have over 20 spots I can set up on now close to home. Have used a tank of gas in 2.5 months. :)

@hikerduane Ohhh now I am jealous. We have about an hour and half drive west, east, or north before we hit FS or NP land.

    Cheers

Never tried the Big Agnes hub system, too bad it doesn't work a bit better for you. We use a 3 season Sierra Design Dome tent for backpacking. I have had to seam seal it a few times over the years but it keeps on working.

Side note you can see the frame outline of one of our backpacks under the Osprey cover. We have had our framed backpacks for years and have never converted over to the new style packs. The old framed backpacks work great for our needs

    Cheers

I've been using internal or frameless packs for quite a few years now, just spent $$$ to get gear to UL status. I have a couple cuben fiber packs from Zpacks and a pack for winter by Zimmerbuilt that is 33 oz. With the pup, had to get a bigger summer shelter, a Zpacks duomid at 27? oz. Pricey. UL gear is light, just not built to be passed to next of kin.

They said gloves and a mask were all that was needed to go to the grocery store, everyone else had clothes on.
