Has anyone mounted a light bar onto the Hooke roof rack? I want to save a little money since I don’t do vigorous overlanding so I don’t need a super expensive brand, but I don’t know how easily a light bar would be to mount or how it would look.

Hello, I am a newbie and would appreciate any advise.

I have just put together my Hook Road Roof Rack, I am needing to mount it on top of my 2008 Tundra Crewmax. I know this is a Tacoma forum but this was the only place I've seen any helpful information.

Does anyone have any pictures or know of any videos showing how to drill the holes and install the rivets that the rack bolts down too? I am worried if I do it wrong I am going to lose the rack driving down the highway.

    Thank you in advance.

Double cabs dont drill holes in the roof of the Tacoma. The dbl cab Tacoma has pre-drilled and tapped holes in the roof already from factory that are located under the weather stripping.

Some people have modified these racks to mount on their shells, but I dont believe it was mounted by using rivets.

My suggestion would be to search through this thread and msg someone that has mounted this rack to their shell to get an idea of how to mount it and not have a leak. Good luck to you.

Guys with Access cabs have to drill holes and I believe they use rivnuts and scillicone the holes good with installation

I drilled the 8 holes today in my access cab for this rack, soon to put the rivnuts in and cut the rack to fit my truck.

Thank for the quick replies guys!
I will do some more research. My last concern is mounting position of the rack.
Seeing that I have a CrewMax I have a large roof and the rack only takes up about half the roof and does not seem to fit in the "gutters" towards the front of the rig.

Does anyone see any issues with mounting towards the back of the cab as shown in the pictures attached?
Any advise or criticism would be very helpful.

    Thanks.

Criticism is that looks ridiculous on the Tundra . Get the proper size rack for your truck. Drilling holes for that rack would make it almost impossible to change your mind later once you realize you want a different properly fitted rack.

I was under the impression that this rack was for the Tundra Crewmax.
Besides for it looking"ridiculous" do you see there being any functionality or safety issues?

I have no comment on Hooke offroad racks since I run a prinsu but Prinsu makes a rack for tundras and it looks like this. It covers the whole cab and looks right. You have a nice truck, pay more and do it right.

    I mean… it’s a Ford, you don’t care
it looks way too small on there. It would be functional if you mounted it but the rest of your truck looks good... that thing makes it look dumb.

Looks good. What you have on the hood? A wrap? Or just a different paint color?

    It's a newer hood, I did a 12-15 front end swap as it's an 08 truck.

I can’t tell through the picture, did you buy your roof tie down rings with that bungee cord or did you just add them? Rack looks great btw.
