This was on my Rear Diff mag plug

    I decided to go ahead and change the rear diff oil on my 2010 SR5 DC PreRunner with 18,300 miles on it. The oil looked great, but I found a fairly large piece of metal on the mag plug. Does this look like it's going to be a problem? I replaced with 3 qts Valvoline dino 75W90 and Trans-X LSD additive. The diff has been running quietly and still is after the oil change.

    Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
    Nothing to be worried about. It comes from when the manufacturer drills holes in the housing. It's the last bit of metal left from when the drill bit breaks through the housing. I found two in my 98's rear end.

    Good news. Glad to hear it's probably from a drilled hole. I think I have an original LSD---The window sticker listed it on there.

    You have an electronic lsd which doesn't require an additive. It won't hurt anything but it's not required in the future.
