Wow! I’ve been designing something very similar and haven’t seen another example that utilizes the tow hitch and bolt mounts. Basically what I want to do, but for a cooler.
Any issues or sand traps to watch out for? What did you use for the hing? Can you post a pic of where it mounts to the frame?

I used a Allen shoulder bolt for the hinge and just used 1/4” plates on the tube to receive the swing. I used 1.5” angle to make brackets around the hitch frame and shimmed it super tight so there is no play. Works perfect for home made. I think there are pre made hinges for swing outs if I’m not mistaking.

Cool, thanks for the followup. I have been looking at all sorts of hinge mechanisms, spindle style, and others. Unfortunately, all my welding equipment is either at my job (not accessible at the moment) or up in Maine. So this project will have to wait.

    GO Jersey!

Got my hot water system mounted on it. I don't have oversized tires, so my spare stayed under the truck. I just wanted the extra storage to get stuff outta the Habitat.

We used the water system mounted up like this for the first time this last weekend. Didn't hook up the propane, but just having pressurized water on demand to wash dishes, hands, etc was AWESOME. Takes no time at all to setup/take down. And no more lifting and moving full water jugs. I can just leave them in the basket.

Do you have a lift on your truck? If so how tall? Truck looks good! I like the camper swing combo

2.5” upfront. 3ish in the rear. Defiantly dropped a little with the swing out.
