I ran my VIN through the Toyota recall/safety check and came back that I don't need anything... But then several posts state the TSB is a know update and should show.

I also see a ton of guys saying they go to get the update at dealership and have to almost argue to get it done.

I am confused - is the TSB update a recall, or a want that has to be fought for?

A TSB is not a Recall, it is a Technical Service Bulletin, they are usually only covered under New vehicle Warranty and are for specific issues/complaints

You should be considering updating your ecu if it is not 04b04 (if you are AT) - TSB - which is for any Tacoma with less than 80000 miles and which displays the issues identified by the TSB for correction. There maybe some TW members in your area that can do the update for you as the dealer is usually going to tell you they can not duplicate it - aka they suck and don't care what you want. There are many TSB's or 3rd gen - check the sticky section for them and see which you may think your truck has - then go to the dealer with a copy of the tsb in-hand and tell them your truck has these issues. GL. search for posts by @lapoltba as the bottom of his signature shows members (location) who may be able to assist

Agreed, that TSB is covered under federal emissions warranty, I would highly suggest having it performed, but as @GoldenBrew stated take a copy of TSB in with you. on a side note there is a list floating around of members and locations who could help you if dealer won't

Looking for a bit of help here.
I have a 2020 TRD Pro AT. I was not able to download any of the tunes using the flash manager so I just used the website (https://www.ovtuned.com/pages/2-0-public). I chose the 91 octane (listed at the bottom).
Just finished flashing and took it for a spin.

It definitely felt different. Went higher into the RPM's. But my biggest concern was getting stuck in 4th gear. I was going up a long hill and I couldn't get anything out of the engine. It wouldn't downshift and just stayed in 4th. Didn't matter if I applied a little pedal or had it pinned to the floor. It was like this with ECT activated and deactivated.

In full disclosure I did just fill up with 87 but had a half tank of 93 in there at the time.

    Suggestions???

Fill up with 93. Drive it some more. It needs some time to settle in.

??? first time to flash the "Tune"?? if so you may want to go back to p5f and clear the LV and AT. If you were on the Mothership stock tune your LV and AT were based on it and not the "Tune." There is a difference.

Hey. I was able to clear AT values successfully but when I tried clearing LV values it was unsuccessful. Any ideas what I did wrong?

I almost always release stuff on sunday nights.

and I don't find it too entertaining that people want to make stupid, joking or not, bets on 2.0 release date.

Just my thoughts.. it’s not a malicious thing whatsoever. Software and compiling data takes lots of time. I think that most of us that have been around for a while, know you will release when YOUR product is right. I know you’re not half assing it, so I’d rather wait and have it good than you release and then have to keep sending patches out over and over.

So. I think the whole “Bet” thing is just a fun way for a few guys to look forward to something that will change their truck forever.

In all seriousness. Keep up the great work. The tune is worth every penny.

Having a sense of humor about the release is better than being upset and mean about it. We are people. People have feelings and opinions. I think having a sense of humor about it is the better route than the alternative of being angry about it.
