Does orientation of ATF cooler matter?

I need to move/relocate my ATF cooler to clear some behind the grill lights. I’m curious if the orientation of the cooler matters. It’s horizontal now, but I may be able to turn it 90 degrees and make my lamps fit.

Well fuck, ain’t you a smarty pants. Who knew! That deflector out sheet metal is probably and hour with some tin snips and a pop rivet gun! Great option thank you for that!

Done. One I had the cooler unattached from It’s three mounts and loosened the pipe clamps so the hoses could spin freely on the cooler nipples, flipping it around and letting it hang below the origins mount required no additional tubing and no twisted hoses. I used one of the existing mounting holes with a longer M6, some washers and a spacer (passenger side mount) and as you can see about a 3” piece of flat 1” aluminum bar to extend a location for the drivers side hole. That spacer was about 1/2 the size as the other. The bottom of that extension bracket uses the bottom original mounting hole of the cooler from the OEM location/orientation and captive but/hardware but I added a split lock washer because it seemed a little lose.

the Baja LP9’s clear everything now with room to spare and even though I have a 32” LED bar in that lower grill area I’m hoping that I still get plenty of airflow down there that cooling won’t be an issue.

 

You forgot to add the isolation rubber & washers on the hold down bolts...

 

Why are those necessary? Obviously I’m a newb at this just trying to work a solution:/

 

I did look at this but it would just cause the clearance issue with the other side lamp unfortunately

 

They are like shock absorbers...so the movement doesn't totally transfer to the rest of the item and cause premature breakage. Like the hose to the nipples...

 

Ahhh. Ok. I couldn’t really figure out how to reuse them anyway. Hope it will be ok. The hose lines have plenty of flex so I think that will help?

I'd find a way to get them on there again...hoses flex, someone thought the cooler needed to be isolated from excessive vibration.

 

If you wanted to put a little hunk of rubber under the mounting points, you could. You actually mounted it to the same support as the radiator, which has little rubber pads under it.
