I just installed a brand new UWS low profile box on my truck..the thing has a warped lid. It's not bad, and most people probably wouldn't even notice without close inspection, but when I paid nearly 400 bucks for it brand new, it's driving me insane. First, the front (lock side) left corner is bent down. I had to adjust that side's striker down a lot more than the other side's striker to make it sit even across. Before I did that, the lit sat crooked. Now today I noticed that it's got a noticeable "wave" kind of dent in it as you look across the top of the lid. I couldn't get a good picture from that view but in the second picture from the back of the truck you can see that the top of the lid is raised up noticeably higher on the left.

Again, some people may see something like this on their own box and say "hell with it, it's a toolbox" but I expect a brand new toolbox to be..well, new looking.

I gotta say..if this kind of thing is indicative of UWS's quality as of late, I ain't impressed. I figure maybe I can hammer it out with a rubber mallet but I don't know. Anybody else have a similar issue? I hate to have to deal with the hassle of sending it back. :(

note the wave in the lip of the lid (and also, the difference in how the strikers had to be adjusted):

this pic is fairly straight-on..see the bulge on the left side of the lid?

yeah dude, I'm not thrilled. It's such a bummer when you get a new part installed and you're so excited (I couldn't wait to finally be able to carry my tools around) and then something ain't right.

    I know. :pout:

Especially when you spent more money for a better item and it's not as it should be. Always a kick in the balls.

I'm thinking I may take it by the local shop I got it from and see what they say first. Just because that's the quickest way to get a new one, if that's what needs to happen. I would like to let UWS know what's up though..

if it was a paint chip, you'd be nitpicky imo. but it is actually physically altered, deserves at least a phone call

I ordered mine from Amazon, and had to refuse the first one due to shipping damage. The second was also damaged, but it wasn't as bad, and I decided to keep it rather than keep trying.

They weren't packed well, and were dented and scratched during transit. Yours looks like either it was damaged in transit, or maybe it was on the corner of a shipment that was strap-bound and the strap bent the lid.

I have the exact same bulge and the lock was also bent down on mine. When I bought mine they only had 2 and both had a bulge. I got the one with the lesser bulge. I know how you feel...

Little late to this but I just bought a better built slimline box and has a warped lid. This end sticks kit about 1/2” and the other end is almost flush. I wouldn’t care but it lets water in. Any suggestions on a fix or adjustment for this? I have the latches adjusted so it closes tight as it can.

It’s almost like the lid is racked forward on the driver side and back in the passenger side.
