The Fed couldn't normalize rates in the last decade.

Can meet foot, can we kick it down the road a little further?

Did business worldwide shut for weeks on end in 2008?

There's been no other downturn in recent memory where this has happened.

Almost everything where I live is open. You would barely even know there was a virus unless you watched the news. This isn’t as bad as the fear mongering media would like it to be.

Nope, and it will be a different economic crisis than 2008 because the causes are different, doesn't mean that 2-3 years from now it's going to look like the walking dead. We had the same articles during the 08 cluster$#&@ that it was the end of days and everyone should just buy gold and that money would be worthless and the stock market will never recover and blah blah blah blah.

I'll keep investing/working/dropping in my 401k. Worst that happens is the world ends in which case what am I going to do anyway? Best case this ends tomorrow and the stock market skyrockets in a day. Realistic case, this dies down and we have a time of economic slowdown because of a crippled supply chain. The base levels start with the most demand, and it'll be a wave of recovery rather than a spike.

The surge in unemployment claims disagrees with what you see in your own zip code

I know there are some bad things happening. I feel bad for anyone affected by this, I am not arguing that. I am just arguing against the end of the world scenario you seem to be pushing. That's not going to happen. I went to the grocery store, restaurants (to go only right now) this weekend. I didn’t see one place closed that I wanted to go to, just a slight inconvenience at some places.

This is a complete dumpster fire, don't get me wrong, but it'll blow over soon enough.

2008 had 10.2 ish percent US. There's a lot of people who are currently unemployed but when the restuarant/facility re-opens after a few weeks they go back in, so there's going to be a large spike at the moment that will go away in a few weeks/couple months.

I think the last job report that came out was really positive and said we added more jobs than expected in Feb. The rise in unemployment is temporary

The unknown is how many of those restaurants/ facilities will be able to survive several weeks without income.

It will bounce back. The economy won’t die and the world won’t end. I have another 30 years to invest before I need to worry about the economy and the market. I’m buying as we speak. Warren Buffet goes against the grain and I will too. He says buy when people sell and sell when people buy :notsure:

Placed another order for Boeing this morning at $95.50 but just barely missed it. I didn’t expect it to go that low again today after the upgrade.

There may be some small venues that do go under, depends how the gov't goes today to give loans to small businesses or not. Salons, barbershops, restaurants, tattoo shops, etc these will probably see some losses.

Buy when everyone is buying and buy when everyone is selling. but then again I am not day/short term trading, for me it's a 30 year game.

I like the comments about how America has "fundamentally changed" as a country, and it will "never be the same" again.

    Hahaha!

People will be sneezing all over each other again in a few months.
