I would still call community care and talk to them. It could be a coding issue, I had that and they just called the hospital to resubmit with another code. Bottom line is they can answer any questions better then the VA hotlines to tell you anything you might need to do.

Yeah I'll be calling that number you provided; just at work all day every day until Monday.

Im not sure their hours, so might even be able to call after hours. I’ve had good people on the other end and they seem pretty willing to help.

I’ll knock on wood that you get good service.

    ...^^^... Yes x 3

I see this happen a lot. I was sent outside VA and VA was super slow to pay and I almost had to pay the bill.

If you go to a civilian ER ... you had better call the VA ASAP or they will not pay.

The VA hospitals have recently come under fire for not paying the legitimate ER bills.

Also don’t freak out (anyone, not just OP) if you see the VA only paid part of the bill on the statement they send out. The provider only gets paid what the VA system says it will cost. Just call community care to confirm if it was a partial payment and any other insurance needs to cover the rest or if that’s the full payment. I’ve done this as recently as yesterday for some visits in July.

Call before you let it stress you out.

Hello all how's it? I have been fighting VA for 15 years for 100% or to be Released to work. They seem to be refusing to do either. I am 90% service connected and am wondering where I need to go from here. You can't live on what they give for 90%. I do have a claim being done for knee joints getting worse but they rate you on flexation not anything else. Any ideas or solutions are welcome. Same with ankles and other joints I guess. Thank you all and god bless.

Well seeing as how I'm still having an issue with the billing from a civilian hospital and being covered etc. I'll be updating this thread later on it.

Start a new thread for more exposure and I'll tag a few people for ya that offered a lot of advice.

Have you tried submitting for the TDIU pay increase so that you are paid at the 100% rate? It seems odd that they would keep you there for that long, considering it is meant to be temporary when possible. So that you CAN get to the point of being employable.

May we ask the underlying condition they are using to say that you are unemployable?

All the evaluations are shit. They honestly dont care. At the VA centers, their whole mindset is, getting you set up to apply for Compensation. Other than that, they dont give two shits about actually hearing you out or trying to sit down and talk about it. I've been going to the VA for over 8 years now, and to this day, they treat every sit down and therapy session like, "let's just get this over with". As long as you meet the criteria (each level of TBI gets a different rating) then you'll be fine on the compensation aspect, but if you're actually looking for help, go private. It's a bitch, but private will actually try and help and talk to you about your issues.

Thanks! But I updated the thread a few pages ago that I got 70%

This thread was brought up by another vet that had an altogether different question which is why I suggested he start a new one.

He'll get the answers he's seeking vs having people answer my initial post lol

Oh sorry, didnt read every post. But go back and get that 70% reevaluated. I've noticed that even if very little changes, simply annoying them with claims ACTUALLY makes them put in for an increase just to shut you up. It's sad, but the VA is a weird place. I think everyone with TBI should be at 100%

I've been hearing different things about that; I was told I should get more especially since my packet recognizes my hearing loss but states it isn't as much to compensate me for. Then I've been told I should wait a few years before claiming more....idk

Coming from me and 4 vets I know personally, you can put in for an increase IMMEDIATELY after getting a decision and theyll still reevaluate for an increase. My first time was denied, I put in again the very next day, absolutely nothing changed on my package. Got approved the second time.

A good friend of mine got denied twice in a row, put in the 3rd time immediately with no change. Got approved. They are just trying to shut us up at that point. But honestly even at 100% it does very little to help with the cost of living in NYC

Yeah, CA is stupid expensive to live in as well.

I may try doing that, since everything was done online anyway being that I was able to submit a fully developed claim since I'm a combat vet.

And no I'm not condoning false claims and the Vets that fake stuff just to get paid. But for the PTSD, TBI, Depression and like stuff. Dealing with that stuff myself, I feel they completely warrant 100%. So get what's owed

You should be able to get a copy of your C&P exam for hearing loss. It’s either on eBenefits (sometimes), or you can get it through a FOIA request. If you get me these numbers, I’ll tell you what’s going on: average decibel loss for left and right ears, and speech discrimination scores for left and right ears. That’s all the rating is based on (if they service connect it). Out of the probably hundreds I’ve seen, they’re almost all either denied or granted at 0%.

I believe the numbers are actually in the welcome packet which I may have at home.

Can provide later tonight once I'm off work otherwise I'll see if it's available online now.

Almost literally. If you can hear well in one ear, but the other one is bad, it will probably be 0%. I see people with prescribed hearing aids also get 0% based on their chart. It’s not worth pursuing in most cases.
