    Hi everyone,
So here’s the situation I’m in. On Friday I got new wheels. Michelin LTX AT2. 265/65/r17. Not aggressive AT wheels but my first time getting AT. I understand that there could be a bit more vibration but after getting them installed ride actually felt good. Then on Saturday I got the 17” Trd prop wheels installed. After that I felt like I started to feel more vibrations. Whether it be at a stand still or just going 25mph on a smooth road. Any thought of what could be causing this or is this expected? Any personal experience on vibrations or advice will be much appreciated. Thanks everyone!!!

Check your lug nuts, make sure they are all tight!!! I had one come off after a rotation, not fun.

you have to make sure the balance was done Hub centric or Lug Centric depending on the rims

If your getting this vibration at a stand still like you posted it has nothing to do with tires.

    Thanks for the reply!
Just as a added note. I’m using the stock lug nuts that came on my truck.

But they did do balancing yesterday when I got them installed. Not sure how it was done.

Thanks Mike. I figured that. Just weird with the timing that it didn’t start until I got new wheels on Saturday. Like the vibration ain’t serious at standstill. It’s a very faint one that i think wasn’t there previously.

Let’s say for conversation sake that we disregard the small vibration at standstill.
Would the most common thing to check first is the lug nuts for why vibration may be occurring while driving?

Keep moving the fence for me....lol

For sure check lug nut torque.
    At's have more aggressive pattern.
That slow a speed at 25 mph I would think it would be your thread pattern.

I have trucks come in with lugs the size of your fist and you have a bad vibration at 5 mph..

Just curious how many miles on the truck? everything mostly stock?

I ask because I had around 165k everything was fine (lol) then I threw on aftermarket rims w/ wildpeaks and it eventually brought out all types of vibes over the course of a year. started very minimal then got wild and lets just say im replacing most my suspension.

Honestly doubt you have the same problem as me. more guys should chime in with ideas

    Hmm . . . none as yet, that's why i'm here . . .
Are the lug nuts correct for the type of wheel?

Take them back and tell them you’re getting a vibration. Tell them to roadforce balance the wheels and that will solve your problems. If it still has a vibration then you may have a bad tire.

Did your truck come factory with steel wheels or alloy? Steel lug nuts are different.

if a shop installed your trd pro wheels without noticing the wrong lug nuts, I would be cautious taking it back to them.

My truck had the stock trd sport wheels 2nd gen which are alloy and I now have the trd pro wheels (4Runner one) which are also alloy. So same lugs nuts should be fine. I’ll take it back for another tire balance and see if that helps.

Ok yea its probably not your suspension with that low miles. probably tire/wheel related as others have sugested

Don't disregard the vibration at a stand still. Check the driveshaft to make sure you don't have any failing U joints. Those will cause vibrations at all speeds.

If the vibration is only there upon moving you need to check your lug nuts first. Then you need to know if your new wheels are lug centric or hub centric. If they are lug centric wheels, did you get the proper adapters for the wheels and did the shop do road force balancing. If you don't know, call the tire shop and ask. This is critical information.

Then once you have ruled those out, take the tires back and have them rebalance the wheels. You may have lost a weight already or they just made a simple mistake when balancing.

Failed u joints would not cause a vibration when the truck is stopped. Trd pro wheels are hub centric
