There are no gates in DVNP for them to be enforcing a closure. Closing the toilets this time is the parks way of attempting to dissuade people from using the facilities and coming to the park. It may backfire on them.

I hadn't heard that. I know the springs are low on supplies and I doubt people would drive all the way out there to steal the supplies. Karma happens.

 

While that’s true, law enforcement units will still be working. Whether posted at entrances or patrolling, if you’re not supposed to be there and get caught, then you’ll pay the price.

Idk. The state wide shelter in place wouldn’t get you out of that one unless you can prove you’re going home legitimately moving for a permitted activity.

 

The 190 is an interstate. If you're commuting back home say from CA-NV and use the 190 I doubt you're gonna be cited. Now if you're a group of vehicles or people who are obviously there to "use" the park they might cite you. They could also send you on your merry way. Citations might help get the message out but CHP in the socal/LA basin don't bother with a lot of violations I see on my daily commute.

 

Yes. You're allowed certain necessities under the SIP order. Things like grocery shopping, going to the pharmacy, getting medical help, etc. If you can demonstrate that, no citation. I would also imagine the CHP isn't going to be primary enforcement for the closure.

 

Took big pine road to Eureka sand dunes and camped there. Lots of snow over the road getting there.

Took steele pass road from eureka sand dunes to saline hot springs to hang with the hippies. Camped in saline valley after

From there went to the racetrack playa and ubehebe crater. gassed up in furnace creek (no services were open but the pumps worked)

Stooped by Bad water and then took West side road to warm springs camp to stay there the night.

took Mengal pass out to end the trip.

Fun, only hit the skid plate once. Doable in a stock 4x4

The Facebook Saline Valley site says that Lizard Lee has been instructed to drain the Springs. They are officially closed per NPS website.
