I'm beginning to question Toyota's reliability... My 2008 has had three repairs that needed done under warranty within the two years that I've owned it. I had a Dodge SRT-4 and had ZERO repairs over the same time frame... both were new. I've had Honda's too with no problems. Considering the bad reliability rep that Dodge gets whereas Toyota has good rep (until recently)... its just weird. Maybe I just have a defect prone truck...

    1: Blown axle seal
    2. Blown Axle seal again... with damage to axle and front differential
    3. Throw out bearing

not to mention the heavy load TSB and tailgate TSB

its a little ridiculous... btw I have 31K on the odo

just curious about who else has had several defect related repairs...

not caused by aftermarket parts or offroading

Toyota's quality and reliability has dropped, and that's not from my mouth but from the mouth of Mr. Toyoda from Japan.

I saw those hearings too... just sad because I bought a Toyota partially for their reliability rep...

+1 after my tailgate went out i was so pissed and disappointed in their workmanship and customer service. i expected them to replace a weak part. now i gotta blow $550 on a new tailgate and paint it myself. it's gonna have to wait though cuz it's not in the budget right now, and not necessary.
i could buy a used one but i'd have to know it came from a newer taco, otherwise i might just be buying another weak part.

I had to do the whole radio replacement thing on my '09, and the dealer still refuses to do the tranny TSB even though multiple people have ridden in my truck and agree it shifts weird. I guess that issue is more dealer-related than Toyota. Also have a couple rattles.

I think the dependability (engine, other mechanicals, getting me from place to place) is still there, but the attention to detail and fit and finish has definitely deteriorated. Still a very good truck.

belt tensioner failing but I can't say if it was from wheeling or not as dirt/mud may have caused it.

    See my sig.
Bone stock truck, treated the same as my last 6 trucks.
It's a truck designed to be used lightly, or heed all the Fanboy warnings about how everything I have always done with my trucks, is abuse, now that I have a Toyota. SICKENING.
I suppose abuse broke my stereo, blower fan, wiper motor, and caused my 4WD to never have worked properly. Or the alternator only putting out 13.5 volts.
Toyota is slipping, and I will not buy another. My wife is sick of taking HER daily driver, (I only use it on weekends) in every couple months for this BS.
Did I mention my rearview mirror was falling off? Cripes
