Yes. Supposed to be that way. When the axle cycles down in an arch, shock becomes more vertical. Look at any trophy truck or LT rear suspension.

Ahh the leaf spring bent? I have no idea. Maybe they are! What do all of yours look like? Hence possible sagging.

Has any one modified the j59s to fit a 95.5 to 97? If so what needs to be done to make them fit.

Oh I forgot about this thread I got a letter back from dever. Pretty much they want you to send them the pack to rearch and add leaves as necessary.. or by a new pack.

You can feel it, but you run the risk of damaging the shocks every time you "feel" it.

The other way to tell is to jack up the truck and rest it on the frame so the axle is at full extension. Measure the eye-to-eye length of the shocks. Then take the shocks off and do it again. If the measurement without the shocks is longer, you're topping out the shocks.

Because when you articulate the rear axle, the leafs bind up a bit so you actually get less up and down travel than if the axle goes straight up and down. So you're supposed to take your shock measurements with both sides at full droop and full compression. Easiest way to do that is to remove all but the main leaf, then add some spacers to account for the thickness of the leafs you removed, and then add a bunch of weight, or use heavy duty ratchet straps and compress the axle all the way to the bumps, and even squish the bumps. Then measure that length. Then let the rear end droop like I described earlier and take the extended measurement.

Do you happen to know if the 2 inch length difference is in front of the center pin/axle behind it or split between both?

Not off hand, no. I want to say it's the front, but not sure.

Both the front and rear spring hangers are relocated between the ‘96 and ‘03 frames I have.

I changed the air freshener to a new one, one time.
Dude I’m hoping you can help me, went o put my J59’s in to get rid of my dakars and everything went smooth until I went to hook the spring to the ome greasable shackles. The shackle bolt(pin) That goes through the Deaver eye bushing is too small for that hole and the bushings from the dakars are too small to fit in the Deavers. You have that issue? I am trying to find a quick spouting that will work with the greasable shackles

Sorry to bring back an old thread but is anyone running the J59's paired with Total Chaos outboard shock relocation?

I want to run bypasses because I rode in a buddies truck this weekend and he had TC's outboard relocation with a Dakar leaf pack and I want to take it a step further and run the kit with the J59's, but I am nervous the pack flexes too much for the 2.0x10 2 tube bypasses that TC recommends.

I have them with the TC outboard shock relocation with the King bypass shocks. I would install the shock relocation first, and any shackles you may want, then take measurements to decide on the length of travel you can fit. I went with the 2.0X10 bypasses, and I could have squeezed a 2.0X12.
