Parts don’t deal with customer warranty, service does. Unless someone in the dealership is doing you a favor, manufacturers won’t let you do warranty repair no matter how simple it may be. Go to service and make appt. PITA I know, but if you’re decent with them, they’ll probably do it their and then within 5 mins.
Also no one has denied your warranty so far, just a parts guy BSing you trying to make a sale.

I had a similar experience trying to get a missing tailgate bushing replaced, that had fallen out before 19,000 miles. I was on a trip, so couldn’t wait a week or two for it to come in at some random town. Eventually found a place that had it in stock, but their techs were busy - got the service manager to come out (because i could /easily/ slap it in) and he wouldn’t do it, citing warranty fraud yada yada. I /know/ they have that goodwill fund - and it’s a $2 part. All a bunch of bullshit. Toyota doesn’t treat it’s customers well at all, in my experience.

I'm a software engineer - I believe bolts only have 2 states, either installer (1) or not installed (0). In my professional opinion your bolt is in state 0.

Just take some tools with you when go to the dealer. i like to cruise the lot and look at the vehicles. Just pop open a passenger side door snag a new screw. deal done warranty screw in hand.

In 1985 my wife purchased a Chevy c10 pickup, basic model came with an AM radio. She negotiated verbally for a FM radio. Went back days later the sales guy and manager denied the radio agreement but handed us an aftermarket POS with nothing attached not even the knobs. I asked for the knobs they just laughed. went home threw the radio in the trash, that weekend I went up to the lot and ripped every F'n knob off the vehicle I could get into I must of had 50 knobs. words, hand shakes, agreements, warranties are part of the deal. They owe you a piece of hardware NOT a SCREW

Jason, did you, or did you not, on the evening of 22 March, 2020, on or at around 7:30pm, attempt to remove, replace the door ajar sensor on your vehicle, and, upon recognizing the task may be too difficult, attempt to reassemble the door ajar sensor, and while executing this task, drop the screw into the dew laden grass and lose the phucking screw?
Remember, you sir, are under oath.

Here’s what would happen if I encountered this problem:

I would walk into the dealership that I use, Jim Robinson Toyota (West Virginia).

The salesman who sold me the truck would say hello and ask how I’m doing and if I’m enjoying the new truck.

I would tell him the problem with the screw, he would walk over to the parts counter with me, parts guy would say the cost is $3, the salesman would laugh and say that’s ridiculous to charge a good customer for that, parts guy would shrug, my salesman would hand me the $3 and apologize...and I’d buy another truck from him the next time I’m in need...

Had the same problem with a missing, small rubber bumper on my fuel door. The dealer said they would have warrantied it if I had told them when I did my walk around the day I bought it; but wouldn’t cover it a month later when I first noticed.....Cost me about $3 bucks to replace it myself......

Like others have said, take it to a dealer and complain about your interior lights staying on, they’ll prob replace it for free and charge Toyota 1 hr for the fix.....
