How in the world would I get it in there?
Is it a big deal if I dropped something in the vents already?

I had the same problem a couple of years ago. I took a 2" piece of rubber tubing (3/8 size) & jammed it in between the dash & the windshield. I Haven't had a problem since. It's a big problem with these trucks, everyone seems to have an issue with it.

You can a little, but if you stuff it in there nice and even, it should look ok.....

The dealership will just stuff foam in there to stop the rattle. It was a major problem on the 1st gen tacomas.

i did a quick fix on mine the other day. i seems like its rattling against the windshield. i'm sure thats not true, but i stuck some foam in between the glass and the dash and its about 95% quieter. you can barely hear anything now! :D

Had the problem....went to Lowes and bought this foam insulation caulk where they sell all the weatherstriping. It comes in coils of @20'. It comes in different diameters..i got the 5/8" dia and stuffed 2 rows of it all along the dash except where the VIN is....rattle totally gone for less than $5 and 20 minutes.:D

Ha, I thought mine was the only one that did this. Mine will do it once every 100 miles or so all of a sudden when I'm driving. I'll tap/press on the vent a couple of times on the passenger side where it's comming from and it'll go away for another hundred or so.

I'm gonna put some foam in there as someone else suggested, and I'm sure that'll make it stop.

Hey, I know this post has been quiet for a while, but I just thought I would share how I fixed the passenger airbag rattle on my truck:

Step 1: Remove glove box & plastic cover which covers airbag assy. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, see the pages in the factory manual that the pdf file posted above talks about.)

Step 2: Loosen the two airbag bolts (the really obvious ones that are holding the airbag in place.) (Don't worry about anything falling on you when you loosen those two bolts, there are two more which will hold the airbag in place while you're working.)

Step 3: Use some kind of pry bar (I used a really big screwdriver) to pry the airbag towards the center of the vehicle. While you're doing that, use your other hand to tighten the airbag bolts back with a ratchet/wrench.

Step 4: Bang on the dash and make sure you don't have a rattle anymore. (If it is still rattling, try repeating step 3 again.)

Step 5: Put everything back together

Step 6: :), because your annoying dash rattle is now gone.

    Estimated Time: 30 minutes max
    Difficulty: Pretty easy

NOTE: This is ONLY for a dash rattle caused by the airbag. If you have one of the other rattles described in that PDF file above, you will have to do something different.

So get off the couch and do this fix already. Redneck remedies like putting weatherstripping on your dash are silly. This is seriously really easy.

    Good Luck,
    Steve

Mine rattled, then I took duct tape and folded into into a rectangle and stuffed it in between the windshield and the dash. my problem was solved :D
