Electrical help. I was given a light bar but not sure about wiring it.
    Listed as 405 watts.

Trying to decide on wire and fuse size.
    405 watt /12V=34 amp
Based on that amperage, charts show 10 gage wire? Sounds huge for a light bar.

My add on fuse block is rated max 100A total and max 30A per circuit. So i cant use my fuse block. Should i use an inline 40A fuse off battery?

Not sure what amperage my relays are rated for.

You guys run into this with bigger light bars?

you'll be fine. find a 40A relay and use that with 10 guage for the high current side. you can run 16ish guage to/from the switch on the low current side and use a spot on the block.

What brand light bar is it? That sounds really excessive to me. I think my heretic has 14g and is only like 204 w

Curious how the new Toyo AT3 is going be to be, I don’t hate the tread pattern or sidewall.

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
    random Amazon bar.
    32" 3 row spot/flood combo. Claims 405W.

Bar has a male DT/deutch style harness on it but I don't have a female half for it. Thought about just cutting that off but all my other harnesses are sealed with 16 or 18ga leads so no good here.

Looked through my electrical stuff in the garage.
    I have a little bit of 8, 10, & 12 ga wire. Plenty of 16 & 18 ga wire.
My relays are rated 40A but the harnesses on them have 16ga wire leads for power (18ga for switch and ground lines). Looks like I could pop those leads out of a harness and press in some female terminals with heavier wire if I wanted.
I also have an 80A breaker.

I think what I'll do is:
    8ga line battery to breaker.
8ga line breaker to the BlueSea fuse box.
Use a 30A fuse in box for the light.
Either 10 or 12ga wire from fuse box to relay to light.
    18ga ground for relay.
10 or 12ga ground for light.

18ga from fuse box (2A fuse) to switch to relay. (my switch is rated for 3A max).

If bars blows the 30A fuse, I'll just trade/sell/give that bar and use a smaller one.

Yes, I'm overthinking it but nothing better to do though with these extra 2hrs per day I've gained by not commuting to the office.

Before you do that harbor freight has a wiring connector that has the female deutsch connector on it and their light bars are much higher wattage than mine. Would be worth a shot for I think 19.99. And it has the relay and fuse holder looks like currently 26.99 but you can always find those 20% off coupons it honestly looks very similar to the one used with my heretic.

Might not be the right place for this, might not have a place, but:

$34,975 OTD with those TN taxes on a new white TRD Off Road with minimal options like steps and mats... should I PULL THIS TRIGGER TOMORROW? Maybe April will bring better incentives...

I will let Tacomaworld decide. Now or April.

    EDIT: Short bed, AT.

    EDIT2: + taxes. Nevermind.

Even after this is over people are going to be less inclined to make big purchases and the inventory of trucks will pile up.

Give the dealership your # and tell them to call you when Toyota is willing to knock off 2k more.

Did not get near as much done as I wanted today but the entire front is done and ready to go. Drivers side cv went in fine after a couple tries. But the tie rod end broke off and had to go get another inner and outer. Also went ahead and changed brakes out while in there.

tomorrow the trans comes out new trans goes in and then fj transfer case.

PSA: before it gets any hotter out and you need to run AC, clean your condenser fins at your house (and truck).
The color of water washing out of mine nearly matched the truck's radiator after LBL.

Also check under the electrical cover for mouse nests. little fukers...

also, I tested that light bar.
Per the lyin chinese bastards on Amazon, it's a 405W bar. Should be drawing about 34 Amp. I put an 15A inline fuse (it's what I found in garage) on 12ga wire and touched it to battery posts for a minute. Light worked (bright!) and fuse didn't blow.
If it's really a 405W light, it should have blown that 15A fuse immediately, right?

If I feel adventurous this weekend, may have to find my meter and see what the real amp draw is on this thing.
