First time attempting fifth flight of a F9:

    WATCH LIVE: STARLINK MISSION

SpaceX is targeting Sunday, March 15 at 9:22 a.m. EDT, or 13:22 UTC, for its sixth launch of Starlink satellites, which will lift off from Launch Complex (LC-39A) at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

This mission marks the first time SpaceX will attempt to refly a first stage for the fifth time. Falcon 9’s first stage supported the Iridium-7 NEXT mission in July 2018, the SAOCOM 1A mission in October 2018, the Nusantara Satu mission in February 2019, and the second launch of Starlink in November 2019. Following stage separation, SpaceX will land Falcon 9’s first stage on the “Of Course I Still Love You” droneship, which will be stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.

SpaceX is also flying a recovered fairing on this mission; Falcon 9’s fairing previously supported the first launch of Starlink in May 2019 (pictured below). Approximately 45 minutes after liftoff, SpaceX’s fairing recovery vessels, “Ms. Tree” and “Ms. Chief,” will attempt to recover the two fairing halves.

SpaceX's live launch coverage will begin about 15 minutes before liftoff. To watch the webcast or to learn more about the mission, visit spacex.com/webcast.

Standing down today; standard auto-abort triggered due to out of family data during engine power check. Will announce next launch date opportunity once confirmed on the Range

No landing. :/ Looks like an engine failed in S1 on the way up.

Thought this was fitting since this is the space and science thread on the Tacoma forum. Here’s my 37th birthday present surprise from my wife and my 3 & 6 year old boys! I LOVE it!
I was pulling some trees out of the back 40 in preparation for a new fence, hence the tow strap/shackle.
I missed the last shuttle program launch but I totally plan on making sure I do anything I can to make sure my family and I see the continuation of manned spacecraft launched from U.S. soil in (hopefully) May.

Cool story... but I accidentally caught a glimpse of Discovery on a barge headed towards D.C. back when NASA ended the shuttle program. Photo credit me out fishing...

And... to further add to the spaceyness and B.S.(ness) of this thread, (and to accentuate my nerdyness) here’s a photo of my submission of the parents class of my son’s pinewood derby car. Which, I might add, won 1st place! (Oh yeah, and Hotwheels Starman photobombed this picture! And I’m ok with that!)

enjoy the space nerd profile I brought to this thread!

Looks like SpaceX Crew Dragon might be delayed. Test articles of the chutes that were being tested had to be prematurely dropped unarmed in order to save the copter crew.
At least no one was injured or killed. Sounds like the pilot did the right thing!

Oof. Hope they have a spare boilerplate and more chutes. At least it's not the fault of the systems being tested...

Those chutes have been tested something like 29 times, probably more. Seeing it was a problem w the conditions, and as it was said before by the guy we can’t tag, it’s not the fault of the system being tested, I am hopeful they’ll stick w the no earlier than mid May timeframe.
