After an extensive research, there are those on the 20% boat to match the factory rear dyed passenger windows and there are those on the 25%.

I got a guy that's willing to do all around window ceramic but if I want to have all my windows match from the outside, what percentages would work?

    So far...here's my thinking...

    Front windshield : 60%
    Driver/front passenger: 25%
    Passenger rears: 70%
    Rear window: 70%

Thinking is, since rears are dyed already,if I go darker it won't match and it would be too dark.

What do you guys think or have done to your trucks? Looks like tint type also effects the percentages too.

Any tinter worth their salt has a tint tester to make sure their stuff will pass any state inspection. Have the guy test the stock window and he will then know what % to add.

Just as said above, let the installer figure it out. I went and told him as close to match and still be legal.

My states legal limit is 35% on pass and drivers windows. So I went with 45% to get it close to passing.

Did you find the installer did a good job? What percentage did you end up getting? Any photos? Thanks in advance.

Just curious. If the legal limit is 35, why would you think to bust that??

He didn't, he played it safe. "Busting it" would be going below 35%. The tint percentage indicates how much light the tint lets through. The lower the percentage, the darker the tint.

I went legal limit all around. That means for me, passenger and driver windows can only be 43%, the back windows can be as dark as I want so I went 5% in the rear. Front windshield can have no tint below the AS1 line so I just went with a clear ceramic.

ND laws for tint are weird. 70% on the windshield (no note on how far down the windshield you can go), no more than 50% on fronts and up to 0% on the backs as long as you have side mirrors.

Years ago, when the state law was NOTHING on the fronts, I got pulled over and fined $20 for having 95% UV tint and was told I had to have it removed. I conveniently forgot to do that. :p

Theres no consensus, I have 35% front and 70% rear and they match.

He is a local businessman and did a great job. I think legal here is 40 percent. Its not a match, but it helps in the summer. I don't have any pics right now, sorry. Like I said, its not a match so its not going to be what you are looking for, but a good tint guy will be able to get you what you need.

my state, Washington, the legal limit is 23% I believe. My tinter told me to make it match would be around 25% but he didnt sell 25, only 20 or 30. 20 is illegal, so I went with 30 and didnt touch the rears. They are pretty darn close but the fronts could be a touch darker, but I didnt want to be illegal. So I guess 25 or 20 may be a bit closer to the rears if you dont touch the rears. But I am happy with the fronts at 30, they are pretty damn close. I dont think most people would notice. And I dont think its ceramic or any kind of fancy tint, its not like I live in Arizona or Florida and need to be that concerned about the heat. Hope this helps.

Tint laws are stupid. You dont need to see inside my vehicle, just like you dont need to see in my house...

Just let them tint it & say match it please. It's not normally a set % to get it just right. I got the 3M color stable on sale & it was $80 bucks. Police like it when cars aren't being broken into. If your living in the city, you gotta protect your shit. I bet my tint was 22% or something I forget. Law is probably 35% or just back windows crap.

Damn! That's the blackest Tacoma I've ever seen. Your head and tail lights must look like they're always on. Good-looking truck.
