Interesting, care to share those resources? Because I ran a Compustar in my F150, had it installed, great unit. Given that it should be simpler on this Taco, I am hoping to do it myself this time around. I'm good with electronics but it's good when someone provides the diagram/wire colors. :D

Thank you sir.. as promised.. blade Al should come with manual already.

Here are some good resources for vehicle wiring from TW, great thread:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/how-to-install-a-viper-5704-alarm-remote-start.252032/

Select your year for wiring on car side here:

    https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/vehiclewiring/1/modelu/Toyota.html

You will find the AC wiring in my history somewhere.. I'll link it if you desperately need it but what I have provided should keep you busy for now

For all who have the Accessorides kit does it chirp/beep when u lock/unlock the doors? If so is it programmed into the vehicle horn ? My tacoma-2008 does not currently have the beep indicator when I lock the doors so that would be an additional bonus. @Accessorides if you’re out there perhaps u can also weigh in. Thanks guys ! Might go down this route as my installer may be parting ways.

I cannot answer for the Accessory Rides kit, but the 12 voltsoltions kit was ordered last Wednesday and delivered to TN on Friday. They shipped it out on the same day I ordered. It took less than 30 minutes from start to finish to get it installed. Another 20 minutes to program and install the long range antenna and confirm it works correctly and button everything up.
My vehicle used to beep on lock/unlock. It does not beep anymore. My factory key fobs still work and the vehicle beeps when I use the factory fob. The factory system made a long beep if a door wasn't shut all the way. The 12volt system locks the other doors and does not tattle tell that a door was left open.

I have Accessorides (2011). I tapped the horn and it chirps when locking/unlocking. It's definitely a longer chirp/beep than from the factory. Maybe this could be adjusted. Overall, it's awesome.

I wonder if the accessorides kit can do the “beep” like the factory, not a horn honk.

    The honk would be obnoxious.

@manhster did your truck beep/honk when pressing the lock/unlock button on the factory key remote before you installed the remote start kit or did it just flash the hazard lights? your truck is slightly newer than my (2008). thanks. My truck just flashes the hazard lights now.

In regards to the options above, for anyone replicating my setup, you can adjust when the horn beeps if any, in conjunction with the alarm chirp if you even want one with length/volume and if the hazards blink and for how long they blink.

Plug in your laptop and adjust these options through idatalink. There are a myriad of options, my favorite being double pulse unlock, where one click of the remote opens all doors. I hated the single pulse oem factory unlock, especially since I had to time it correctly to open the passenger door.

    @prone2xl
Mine beeped with the factory fob before. Actually, the accessorides just beeps when you press it the 2nd time after lock. Like a confirmation beep if needed.

hey @jbaker1976 how did you get them to send you a code ? what style did you go for ? the extended remote or the normal type? did you add the app module for smart phone control? how easy was this to install? Truly plug and play with no splicing or bullshit ? I am an intro mod guy lol. looking to buy kits for myself and my wife for birthday gifts.

I think they emailed the discount code because I had visited their website and I may have provided an email on thier mailing list.. The promotion was over at the end of March. They run 10% specials all the time. My 2015, was truly plug and play. I got the kit with a two-way remote and a one way remote. I didn't buy the smart phone module from 12volt. I ordered the module/ CL6 from Amazon for 110. They have a lifetime warranty, but I think the Prestige alarm already has a lifetime warranty. So the lifetime warranty must pay for them to handle the claim or cover the custom harness they make. They don't make the alarm system themselves, just the harness. If it wasn't for the Covid 19 crap I would have already made another purchase from 12volt for my wife's car.

ok i'm a little lost, help me out @jbaker1976 , what is the CL6 module from Amazon that you bought and how does that tie in with the 12V system ? also, does the kit come with an alarm ? what is the prestige alarm? or did you also purchase another product from them? apologies if there are many newb remarks here!

The CL6 is a an add on module for aftermarket remote start kits. Its not propiortery to one specific remote start or car alarm manufacturer.
I cannot answer the alarm question. I have pressed the door pin on my truck and used the key fob to lock the doors and then release the door pin. The dome light came on, but no alarm?
Prestige is a well know manufacturer for car alarms and remote start. The key fobs that came with the 12volt kit has Prestige on them . I suppose you could program a different key fob. But I assume the remote start module is Prestige as well. I'm open to corrections by anyone if they see something incorrect with any of my statements.20200409_190426.jpg

no just the wording of your earlier post mentioned something to the effect of the prestige alarm having a lifetime warranty so i assumed that u were connecting the two. My mistake. I have heard of other units like the viper having an add on alarm piece. I just want the best plug and play solution for the best value.

I installed the 12 volt solutions kit about a month ago and so far it works well I would recommend it. I did get the CL6 or anywhere start witch has an app on my phone that also ties to my Apple watch so I can start or shutdown and lock or unlock my doors from my phone and or watch plus it give you info if your doors are locked or not and the voltage of your battery in the app. I do not carry the remote that comes with the kit, I just use the apps and keep my factory fob.

Yes I got it from them. Once installed you download the app to watch and phone it was worth the extra money. If your like me and park and get well away from your truck and say did I lock it. Thats worth it alone but also where I work I park far from my truck and can still start and get heat or ac going well before I can see the truck.
