Is it 20 or 25% for tint?

I know you're trying to stay legal but I put 5% on the front two doors along with a 5% windshield brow strip and then wrapped 20% on the rears and back 3 piece. Came out nice best part is I did it myself so the cost was inexpensive. Minus the glare on the front window it should give an idea, although you are wanting to stay within legal limits.

Tint doesnt keep you from being able to see out the window.....

 

Wut? Of course not completely, but it 100% reduces visibility

 

My post literally does not say tint doesnt reduce visibility... not sure what the argument is. If tint affects your vision enough to impair your ability to drive then dont use it. Leave everybody else alone.

 

That’s whole point of tint laws bud. So u don’t spray paint your windows black and leave a huge blind spot. Are there states where no tint is allowed?

 

The whole point of tint laws is NOT for you being able to see out the windows. It is so cops can see in. Have you seen a cop car before? Their windows are tinted way above the legal limits in every state of the union.

No reason to get into a political debate here. You clearly are on the side of controlling what other people do with their lives. I would prefer that i get to choose how i live my life.

 

for sure. brother in law used to have some dark ass tint and he'd have to roll down his windows at night if he needed to turn or backup. such a knucklehead

 

Here is B.C., Canada, no tint. Behind you is fine, but no tint is allowed from your shoulders forward.
Of course, there's lots of vehicles with tint. . . it's one of those things. . . .
I had to take mine off.

I definitely went too dark on my fronts, same problem haha.

 

lol. In Va. they pull you over in a heartbeat and ticket you. It's now 50% on the front door windows & only 35% on the rear doors, I had 40% on the front, then the laws changed and not long after I got pulled. Anything on the windshield is now against the law as well - I'd really like to put a small strip across the top instead of always dropping the visor but can't.

 

I’ve gotten one tint ticket my whole driving life. I couldn’t hit the window down button fast enough haha. They seem pretty relaxed here in az. Dark tint helps me ride in the hov lane too haha

 

I got my tinter to match my front windows with the stock rear window dye, and he said the match was 35%
From inside and out, the front snand backs look about the same, so I'd say he was right.

 

how'd you do it by yourself? Did you use a kit?

 

You can use a pre cut kit if you are familiar with the tinting process. I actually make decals and shirts on the side and also do tint jobs here and there. So it was just a matter of getting a separate roll of 5% so I could do my 2 front windows and windshield strip, I had 20% on hand.

If you're familiar with tint, lexen makes a decent film and can be bought precut from their website or Amazon for fairly cheap I think it ranges around $35-$45 but I dont believe it comes with the windshield strip

 

Wrong. Tint laws are in place so when police pull you over they can see wheither of not youve got a gun waiting to shoot them. Either way i came here for 20%/25% comparisons.

I dont see a whole lot of 25% out there. Do they make a ceramic 25% that matches our rear glass?

since rear factory glass is different, they basically put the tint in the glass, you can never achieve 100% match. They’ll get it close as they can. I’d just call the tint shop & ask. Bigger shops have more options

 

Yeah, I know. Just judging from picutres 20% is noticeably darker than the stock rears and 30% is even more noticeably lighter. Seems like 25% should be perfect but I cant find anyone with pics, or even know if a good ceramic 25% tint is available. I've got a pretty keen eye and would always notice the difference, and would prefer to not pay extra to do the rears. I'm thinking 70% windshield+25% fronts would be perfect.
