We are part of the "last mile" project the state helped fund. So they HAVE to. But they've been super slow and I have to think we are one of the last places getting decent internet. I'm told we should be set by the end of this year. I just haven't seen any trucks come down this way, they started then cut over by our school and haven't come back down towards us....

    :spy: @Bridge4 from my contact:

"I know that there is an aggressive build out there. As far as I know, they are building out the entire western Massachusetts. I will ask someone in the operations group to get a spectrum contact."

    Awesome!!!

My concern is the area past the school on 43 north to Williamstown. But this sounds like the real deal.

    THANKS!

    It sure does.
That is really going to change some of the small towns.
I know there are people that use internet service and have decided against coming to the 'shires because of the speed.

    So....
The plan is that Spectrum is running fiber as a main and then coax into house from that. And of course not to be outdone, Verizon has plans to upgrade some of their service as well. Looks like they are planning to upgrade their 5G service out here. That means that they would be doing some fiber, but not as much as Spectrum is doing. They would do just enough to upgrade to handle the 5G.
Appears that the race is on for some of the small towns out this way.

Not sure if that is anything you didn't know before.

I still regulary have to use 3g at my house, 1 bar. Sometimes I get 1-2bar lte.

Problem is, Jiminy or somewhere close by HAS a tower, its right over the hill...From what I've been told, the hill blocks the lower signal in this valley and goes right over my head :rofl:

I need a hardline, or 5g thing out on the pole in front of my house pretty much. Someone I spoke with who helps us with out tech offered to shoot his internet across town from his hilltop to ours...:confused::confused: oh well, this is why my taxes are low

Sounds like Verizon is in process of getting 5G to our area.

I would welcome it, from what I understand on the tech, its shorter range between "towers" and they will be going on the telephone poles which really raises my chances of it.

Do you know when they are doing it?

    Ahhh....I see.

Not sure. But with Spectrum doing their thing, I have no doubt Verizon is right there behind them.
I know that the east is priority in our state for this kind of stuff and they have been doing the upgrades there for a while now.

There is a cell tower on Jiminy. It located on West Way right above Race Arena. They installed it as there was no service in the valley at all. Companies wanted to hold summer conferences there but couldn't live without cell phones.

I used to live at 420 Brodie Mtn, 1 mile from the mtn driveway. I had a full signal at the rd, but nothing 100ft away at the house. At the time I was ATT, but my parents on Verizon had the same signal.
