I think my state totally defaulting and declaring bankruptcy would be a positive out of all this LOL, but that's for another forum I guess. One of the companies being bailed out put the pension plan up as collateral for an ESOP, then declared bankruptcy a long time back.

    Kick the can as usual.

Silver is in the group with diamonds where if they actually mined all they could we'd pave our driveways with the stuff. The classic Silver and Gold adage is all that really keeps it up i guess

VA disability compensation and VA healthcare definitely are. That can take care of income and healthcare for someone. I wasn’t talking about any jobs.

My only point on that other post is that you can’t generalize, everyone’s situation is different.

Silver is the most conductive element, so it has a lot of industrial uses like in electronics. Around 60% of the physical silver used per year is consumed by industry https://www.silverinstitute.org/silver-supply-demand/ And it still costs a certain amount of money to pull the silver out of the ground, ($15/oz from what I read). Silver trades more like an industrial metal these days. It doesn't seem to get the same kind of bump that gold sees when markets sell off. The diamond market is BS though.

I saw this today. I’m a bull long term, but this makes sense based off of history. As they say, “History always repeats itself.”

We should have several dead cat bounce days in the chart once this is all said and done. They usually come after the worst days too if you compare a chart of worst days.

You're not wrong, there's a ton of clowns pushing precious metals, and you shouldn't expect precious metals to match the return of an S&P Index Fund. I wouldn't call it a sham though, old coins sell all day on eBay, there's plenty of liquidity. It's a hedge against inflation, and an insurance policy if we ever get crazy inflation. Wouldn't go more than 5% allocation.

The futures sure liked the unemployment numbers, jumped like 2%. Must have been pricing in much worse.

I know the stimulus passed last night, but I figured the markets would still tank this morning with the unemployment figures.

Before the unemployment numbers were released, the futures were indicating about -2.5% open, then quickly got to +2.5% shortly after opening. That's a 5% swing, crazy. I thought it would be bad too, but I am sure the 35%+ drop priced in an armageddon scenario, and it is turning out that this virus isn't that bad. No worse than many other bugs that go around at least (flu, pneumonia, etc.)

It's too bad, I wanted a long buying opportunity but I barely got to take advantage.
