Crawl control not working

Yes, came from a JKU. It had the same 4L issue as did the TJ Rubicon before that. Upgraded the shift linkage to the Advanced Adapters cable when I installed the 2L kit. One of my best decisions as I was never stuck at the trailhead with a broken plastic clip and a floppy shift lever.

Lived in Moab and built the JK for the terrain. 2L was tits for trying to push the pig around on the sandstone!

 

My build date is 9/19, wonder if they did an update that hasn't made it to a TSB?

Verified my crawl control in my '19 works, at similar angles and on slightly wet/shaded grass. Worked as expected in all speeds. I did not realize how much crawl control seems to jerk forward and stop almost immediately, expected smoother feeling operation in the cabin. Guess the slower speed settings are very sensitive.

 

Mine does not work like my 18 and 19. I will be visiting the dealer.

I went to the dealership it is normal on the 2020s tacoma i drove test another tacoma and on a high hill it tries to work and cancels CC my friend has a 4runner pro 2017 and that thing is a beast his CC will run a dig the truck just different CC i got to use my crawl control to go over a tree log to cross a trail with no road and it was nice

 

Wonder why they neutered CC on the 2020's.

 

My gut feeling says it has something to do with the drum brakes. It's the only Toyota Crawl Control system that is on a model with drum brakes. I remember reading some very early 3rd gen posts about drums getting fucked with the system. But those posts were very few. 2 or 3 from what I can remember.

 

I sure its great if you put yourself in those places where you may need it. Just something else to break, glad I have a Sport. Best wishes!

Guess I'm glad I didn't wait for a '20. I've actually used the CC a few times. Uphill, downhill, works fine. Shame they may of neutered it.

I just used CC on my 2020 TRD OR while going up a hill and it worked with no issues. it didn’t cancel itself or anything

 

I bought a 2020 Tacoma TRD Pro in December, probably built sometime a month or 2 before that I’m guessing? After reading this thread I took my truck to a steep, off camber dirt road climb that I had done with my ‘17 T4R with CC. My 2020 Tacoma CC works exactly the same as it did on my ‘17 T4R, just as noisy, just as effective, no difference whatsoever. There was a lot of steering input required, and it didn’t quit. I continued up the dirt hill in a straight line and it still worked just fine. Not sure why some aren’t working, but it can’t be right. CC has been around for a while and this hasn’t been an issue before, and it appears that it’s only a problem on some 2020’s, which tells me something is wrong (unless Toyota says it working on a hill is wrong?)

 

The MT version fixes that issue... (MT's do not have CC!)

I find it interesting that this is a feature that eliminates the need for the user to do presumably what the user intends to enjoy from the vehicle...

- Buy a 4x4 to enjoy off-road driving (and related skills), then employ a feature that allows the driver (and not very well...) to avoid the interesting bits of off-road maneuvering.

Also - when in use, CC makes a racket... Sounds wrong... certainly not pleasant-sounding...

Just a thought...

 

My truck is headed to the dealer Monday so I will let everyone know what I find out.
