Shop around. At the end of the day, it’s all about the $ for you and for them. May have been with them for 30yrs but they don’t care about you other than you giving them money. Also look at paying in full, that usually saves me about 15%. We have 2 newer vehicles and pay about $500 every 6mo.

Ya, I always pay 6 months at a time, always have. I guess that they just don't want me for a customer anymore. Well, I can fix that !

State farm sucks. My old agent added things to my policy without my approval. I switched to Geico and got a way better deal. If Geico goes up, I'll shop around. They all try to screw you eventually, you just gotta be willing to move on when they do.

We got 2 new vehicles last fall, both 2019's, Highlander Xle AWD and Tacoma limited dcsb 4x4. Had an 09 Venza and 13 Silverado. Insurance went up from$75 to $79/month. We're old too! Had 3 animal accidents in last 2 years, 2 for her with just enough time between to get the first one fixed! I do have homeowners bundled. Concord Ins.

Allstae has been very good. We pay $1300 a year for New CRV and new Lariat. MAx coverages including under and un insured at the highest limits we could get, Sometimes Insurers raise their prices becasue a certain vehicle has a higher incident of claims...

My Corvette was a ton more cheaper than a Mustang. Why? Because a lot of young people who tend to have more claims (esp[ecially 4WD) Rates will be higher, Corvettes are not usually owned by people less than 60 LOL....The claims are very low when compared to Mustangs which again is kind of a kids' car.

My nephew owns an Allstate but he is in NC. I buy my insurance from an agent here on the beach. We pay about $5000 a year in insurances including a 2 million umbrella, Flood insurance, Hurricane insurance, Home policy. Since insurance is our largest yearly expense, I don't mind paying more for more. Home is $1800 (hurricane is about $1000 of that LOL) Beach living...

We pay it all in lump sum in December. I could go cheaper but when it comes to hurricanes, I want a major company to work with not some fly by night to save $500.....

Ya, I have my Policies all bundled with State Farm too, but now the new monthly rate for my one truck will almost double to well over $100 a month. It's not really that much more in dollars I guess, but that 'Doubling' part is what is so hard to swallow ! And for what reason ?!

Oh well, I can take all of my insurance business elsewhere, no problem

I have Statefarm as well for 30+ years. Each time I have gone out and looked for insurance quotes, Statefarm has always been within a few dollars. Not worth it to me to change because they are the gorilla in the insurance market. We have a friend who works in their claims dept (for many years), he told us years ago that they drive the market price in most areas. In other words, when their prices go up, other companies follow. I use their DriveSafe and have lowered my rates by about $15/mo. I recommend it if you don't drive a lot of miles and don't mind being 'tracked'.

When I went from my old 2015 to the 2017 the price only changed about $8 every 6 months.

If you’re not shopping insurance quotes every year or two you are giving them free money. No such thing as an insurance company who is loyal to a long time customer, they are all about maximizing their profits.

Ya, they offered me that 'DriveSafe' option after I retired because I don't drive all that many miles anymore, but the small savings wasn't worth having State Farm along with me for the ride everywhere I go, so I passed on it. Too much like 'Big Brother'.

I have shopped their rates a couple of times in the past, and I couldn't beat them; but I will try now again and see what I get.

Without going too deep into it. some have already touched on reasons why your rates have gone up. Yes, Toyota’s safety features make your vehicle safer, but collision covers AT FAULT accidents, so it’s also more expensive to repair with those safety features when YOU cause an accident. Costs all around have increased.

So many rating factors now. Some being Sex, age, credit score, education level, employment. Zip codes are another rating factor and also insurance rates went up nationwide a few years ago. Some are fortunate to still get killer rates. Others, not so much.

I do remember this, I used to love getting farmers and State Farm policy holders. Just like you, they’d be with them for a long long time and they were the easiest to beat. Matching coverages to coverages. Customer’s felt like they should be getting better rates from their insurance companies just because they’ve been loyal to them. That’s not the case with insurance companies.

USAA, those were the toughest to beat though. I’ve heard great things about that company. Even if we were lower, it wouldn’t be by much and I totally understood why they wanted to stay with them.

Also, sharing some advice. I’d recommend never having comprehensive at a $500 deductible. Always at $100 or less I have mine at $0. Comprehensive is the cheaper of the 2 coverages that make up “full coverage” (comprehensive and collision) so lowering to $100 or $0 will only add a few dollars to your premium. comp covers the vehicle while it’s parked but also glass. If you get a rock chip that cracks your windshield, you’d get it replaced for free ($0 ded). Or you’d be out the several hundred dollars it costs to replace one out of pocket because your deductible is too high.($500)

sorry of the long reply, I tried to keep it short and simple but insurance can be complicated.

    Good luck!

I've had state farm for about 20 years now. yeah.. that seems like a big jump. did you go from 4x2 to 4x4? If so, there would be an increase (but even with that you shouldn't see that big jump unless there are a lot tacomas in your area with claims.

I would make sure the agent provided the correct annual mileage. My agent screwed up on my wife's car by stating 60K miles a year instead of 7K miles. Her rate doubled.

It also depends on your credit rating and where you live. I’ve been with State Farm for 42 years.
I own 2 Tacoma’s, Kia Soul and Chevy Van.
I’m Divorced and the only driver. I’m getting nailed. I looking for new insurance now.

I pay like 40 bucks or something i forgot been with geico for years, you get better insurance quotes through online than “in person” that agent in that office is the middle man, just cut them out and go directly through the insurance, I have auto pay saves me like a dollar eh what i care ima pay for it either way, i also just have liability, also things that play a role in your price is miles, location, age, sex, occupation, if its a loan or owned is probably the biggest one
