I found multiple bottles on the shelf at TW today. That never happens around here - it's only available at the front counter and sells out in an hour or two. Effect of Covid keeping people at home I guess.

Decided to finally get on my PMP since I finally acquired the W12 again.

    I did the 60:40 ratio (OWA:W12)
    12 oz OWA
    8 oz W12

I'll be making some Even Poorer Man's Pappy tonight as well:

2:1 Maker's Mark Cask Strength to Larceny

Then I'll do some tastings to compare with Lot B. Be a good way to end the Lot B Bottle and see if anything is "close enough" to try again.

I know I'm new to this actually tasting the Bourbons and Whiskies etc... But... I don't think some of these are worth it. I don't know if it's the FOMO or some other hype that makes people freak out about this or that and it's probably all marketing to make Blanton's "desirable" or Pappy needing to be copied.. but from my personal point of view.. the cheapest bottle I own is the best and one that I can drink straight and use as a mixer .. the Elijah Craig is $20.99 at Costco and I'd rather spend $500 on 24 bottles of that than 1 bottle of something that likely tastes too burny anyways! Haha.

Absolute truth. Buy and drink what you want, how you want. Hype is hyped, but taste is subjective.

I admit I'm one that has gone, let's say... off the deep end the past year on my whiskey adventure. Jack and Coke was my staple (and still is) for many many years. After trying some various whiskies I wanted to find what I like. Yes I bought in on some FOMO and hype and it's been hit and miss. But I have a list going of things I will be re-buying and those that are not coming back.

One of my friends that is also new to trying more whiskies told me he was jealous of my collection and that he needed to up his game. I told him he was dumb. I've got a lot of money into what I have, and it's been a fun journey, and I now know what I lean toward when looking for new whiskey. I told him he has the pleasure of knowing me and I am not stingy when it comes to sharing. He can take advantage of my bar and then just buy what he likes going forward. Saves much more money.

But, never let anyone make you feel lesser for drinking bottom shelf, top shelf, or with ice, water, mixer, whatever. Not you specifically, just saying. Enjoy what you enjoy and fuck the rest.

    :D:cheers:

I think copying the link address method has stopped working for some reason. That's how I've always done pics for the most part. easier than downloading and uploading. Especially since I'm a picture whore :anonymous::rofl:
