Will a 4wd lift kit fit a 2wd?

I have a 2019 2wd trd off-road Tacoma. Been looking at lift kits (no suspension). Looking at either 2.5 or 3” supremes. Notice that a lot of them say they are 4wd specific. Do these work on a 2wd drive? Thanks

 

Yes, all 2016+ tacomas share the same suspension.

The reason it says 4WD as many kits come with front diff drops, which should be ignored on 2WD and 4WD models.

 

There is a difference between 5 lug 2wd and a 6 lug 2wd (PreRunner)

very bad thing. Drops the front differential to “correct” cv angles, but permanently altered the frame and is not necessary

 

Last question here. Can I run 33” tires with a 2.5” lift. Or is that 1/2” critical to prevent rubbing? Thank you

 

Nope, you've combined a drop bracket lift and a diff-drop. A diff drop is just about $50 worth of hardware that adds some spacers between the diff and the frame to drop the diff however much. A drop bracket lift is a lift that requires removing a cross member and adding a bracket to lift the truck.

It depends on what you want to do with your truck. Theoretically you can only run what you can fit without the lift if you want/need full articulation. The rubbing mainly occurs on the cab mount in the back of the wheel well and the pinch weld above it. With the right tires you can fit 33"s without a lift.

 

I have a 2.5" lift in the front and 1.5" lift in the rear and have 33" tires.

I rubbed because of my wheel backspacing which is -25, but with a less aggressive backspace you should be fine.

That -25 is the offset, not the backspace

Yes it does, But is not necessary for a 2wd. The only thing a drop bracted kit does is drops the front diff down to help with the CV angles. Just buy some 4 inch lift spindles and some 5100 and set it to the 2 inch lift setting and you'll have the same amount of lift without all the added components or cutting your frame.

Sorry just read that you are looking for 2.5 to 3inch. As long as you have a non 5 lug it will fit
