I'll be curious to hear your thoughts on the before & after ride comparison.

Still looking to go with this set up, I have the 5160's waiting in a box at home. Over at Wheelers Offroad they offer to put King Coils on the 6112's, this comes at an additional cost of about 185.00. Is it worth it? I won't be doing any extreme off-roading or crawling.

It will look cool. $185 for springs isn't bad

Me as well I ran eibachs on a few sports cars when I was younger and didn’t care about ride quality. They were stiff

Ride is much improved. Handles dips better, less body roll, less nose dive. Not stiff at all.

How much lift did this setup give you up front? I’m looking at doing the 6112 with the bilstein 650lb springs, but I’m really only looking to get 1.5” of lift up front.

At 6/5 I was at 2.5" of lift. Then added bumper/winch, sliders, skid plate. So I lost about an inch. That's why I added the 650# springs and am back at 2.5".

So it depends if you have extra weight or not. Kind of have to take a best guess and see how it looks. Thankfully the 6112 are adjustable, so if it's too tall or too short you can adjust. In your case I would try the 650# set at 2/1 and see how it sits.

Is it flawed logic to use a 1/4" top plate spacer on both sides rather than going up a notch on the coil stops to get similar height without increasing preload? Top plate spacers generally only used to fix taco lean?

    Example (per Bilstein's chart - 2nd gen 4x4):

    a) 5th notch nets ~2.5" of lift, but preload is maxed out... and will probably settle a bit below 2.5"

    b) 4th notch nets ~2.15" then add 1/4" spacer for an added .5" for total of ~2.65"......with possibility of a bit smoother ride due to less preload and about 2.5" after settling

I need to keep ~2.5" min for my 285s to clear like they do on current setup

Hoping that you have Aftermarket UCA's, it can be done but not necessarily recommended. Do you have a CMC?

Yes to aftermarket UCAs, no to CMC. Just trying to figure out the lesser of the two evils since I'm trying to max out the advertised amount of lift this kit can provide. I know folks run their 6112s on the highest setting without major issue, so I might try that.

I have the 6112's and upgrading to 285's in the summer. For what it's worth, I would rather get a CMC at a reputable place and have a great ride, then having a consistently bad and hard ride just to not do the cmc.....that is what I am doing. A good welder can make sure it is structurally sound and no issues with rust. It's like putting a lift block on a aftermarket leaf pack. Sure it will get you higher but at what cost?

I have a 2013 DCLB with full SOS skids, sliders, camper, and decked. I plan to eventually add an ARB, winch, and SOS rear HC with swingout. I have Dobinsons rear HD leaf pack with 5160 shocks sitting in a room. I'm wondering what setting and spring(600 or 650) would be the best option for around 2" of lift. Would the 3rd gen 6112's be an option to keep my setting lower, or do they not lift the 2nd gens like the stock suspension?

    Pic just because :D

I have almost the exact same truck. 2013 dclb, sos skid trio, sos sliders, camper shell, wilco tire carrier, but with a sos front bumper. I also plan for a rear bumper. I have the 6112's with the bilstein 650lb springs for the 2nd gen on the fourth setting with the heavy dakar leaf pack and 5160's. I dont have a decked, but I always have about 300-400 lbs of stuff in the bed at all times. This is how my truck stands on 265/70 17's.

For a 2 inch lift on the front, I if were you, I would go with the 2nd gen 6112's with 650lb bilstein springs on the 3rd notch. When you get the front bumper, maybe move up to the 4th notch.20200317_090154.jpg

I've had 2 sets of wildpeaks and haven't had issues. Great in every condition except the sloppy stuff (typical of an AT)

No issues with that. Been on my Taco for a year and LOVE them. Better grip on the road, especially in rain. Amazing off road, exceptional in the snow. I've had a few sets on other vehicles. My tire of choice.
