Anyone have a moonroof/sunroof function this way on a 2020 TRD Pro? Toyota said that this is ok since it is leaking into the tray. Curious if this is how it is supposed to function.

Oh my.. how can they say it's normal. You're not supposed to see water sipping into cabin at any time. Take it to another dealer.

Toyota Corporate came to look at it when the dealership could not fix it on the 4th try. They sent one of there technicians who said that the drain tray is catching the water. Since that is taking place, it is functioning as designed and they will not authorize any additional attempt to fix it since it is “functioning” as designed. Craziest thing I’ve ever heard.

Here is a different rainy day. I sent this to Toyota as well. They are insistent that this is not a problem and refuse to do anything. I’ve owned multiple sunroof vehicles and this is the first time I’ve had an issue. Very disappointed.

My RC350 has a sunroof. I'd be all over the dealership and Lexus if they tried to feed me that BS. What happens when the 'drain' plugs?

Is it like your refrigerator and you need to empty it every once in awhile? I mean, at least here it rains here for weeks on end.

This is sooooo not true. So will Toyota warranty cover when water drops land on your front seat, center console, infotainment system or wherever inside the cabin and cause shortage, mold, etc..?

My dad has 17 Tacoma w/ moonroof and I just took it out for a drive the other day when it was raining pretty hard in california. No sign of water whatsoever. I had 2015 GS-F and didn't see hint of water during rain or even in automatic carwash!

Perhaps, folks here with 2020 moonroof can chime in.

I guess I should have done my homework better then. I would not have gone with the Pro if I had realized that. I would have purchased an TRD Off-road without a moonroof.

I hate the moonroof, wish they would get rid of it or make it an option by itself and not part of packages that I would like to have some of the options. That and leather seats.

Moonroofs are fucking awesome. I love rolling down the road with it wide open and beaming sun into the cab.

they all can leak, that’s why there’s a drain. All moon roofs are like this. If it’s not overwhelming the drain then don’t worry about it. :burnrubber:

***you should have got the off road with a moonroof anyway

My 2019 PRO has same issue. Dealer insists it normal and ensured the drains were working properly. Frustrating.

Ford tech here, all sunroofs leak a little, a sunroof is a hole in the roof that opens and closes with semi regularity it's never gonna seal perfectly, you adjust the glass to limit the amount of water that gets past the gasket and the sunroof track has drains to deal with water that's get past the gasket. Yours is fine, I would laugh if I got that as a complaint with so very little water.
I will say that ford does put blinds on the sunroof track so the customer cannot see the water that normally gets past and into the sunroof track.
For the record I will never own a ford with a sunroof.

Simple the sunroof track overfills and water starts running down the A pillars first usually.

At ford only thing I have had a leaking sunroof take out was the motor for the glass, which was covered no problem. I think a good dealer would get the mold you asked about covered, but honestly if you have mold build up then honestly youve probably ignored the leak to long. People here wont like that answer but warranty shouldnt cover you ignoring a problem for a while till it destroys other parts.

My 2017 Off Road does this as well. The drains pour the drops down through the A pillars and out underneath the hood. It shouldn't ever be so much that the cabin is getting wet. My truck has sat through hurricanes in Florida and not had any issues.

They do now make a Premium package without the sunroof and leather, exactly what you are asking for here. Hopefully you got it as I see you have a 2020?

I did not, my dealer said it came with moonroof and they couldn’t get that option without it. Other dealers in my area said the same.
