BFG’s or Toyo’s

Just got new front gin strap from SteelCraft and 2"EMU lift medium duty. Now need tires and those look great. I'd go 255-75-18 for my rig. Did you have UCA issues or wheels with offset?

 

I see alot of people talk about hub centric and spider trax I think it is

 

Went with the new Toyo AT3's. Less road noise and better traction on snow.

KO2’s on the taco and 4R. No complaints for off-road nor daily driving. Might try open country M/T’s on the taco next.

 

who did you get your AT3's from? havent saw any places listing them as "in stock". Ski

 

Really like my open country RTs.

 

Not sure you can make claims of how they perform when you have had them 2 weeks and they are a brand new tire.

 

They were from a small shop in Southern California called Wheel House Center. They had them shipped in overnight from somewhere in Nevada.

I was debating BFG's and Toyo's and the tire specialist told me the Toyo's AT3's were the more advanced tire (could be wrong)... the main benefits...less noise and better traction in snow. But I still think the KO2's have a more aggressive look.

 

Toyo's. They just released their new ATIII. I'm running them now and they are very nice. Way better than my old K02'S.

We drove down on Sunday and picked up a puppy, it was a good mix of hills, freeway, side roads, and even a bit of a muddy driveway.
New Toyo RT were awesome, stiffer than than the P-series OEM tires but not loud or rough. Shift up a bit earlier on the hills but otherwise fine.
Scanguage showed mileage was 15.2 vs 14.5L/100km two weeks ago... something like +1.2mpg..

 

I've had both (KO2's and ATII's) as well as coopers and i would agree that the BFG's are the most prone to hydroplaning. That being said, I live in CA so I rarely have to worry about rain. I think K02's are slightly superior in rocky and muddy situations, but that's just my uninformed opinion. The last 2 sets i purchased were K02's so i'll probably switch to something lighter this time around in hopes of slightly improved mileage. Improved mileage is the reason i moved to a tacoma from a full size ayway.

Is that why you are selling your old 35s?

 

How do you figure? I have the Toyos now and had the BFG’s before them. Neither are horrific.

 

Are you running stock off road wheels and suspension,? Any rubbing or issues?

 

All stock. Zero rubbing at all, flexed or otherwise.

I haven't aired down real low and check with flex so, I'll get back to you on that.

Yep. The 35's we're were fun and great offroad, but impractical for daily driving and long distance travel with all the weight I already have. The new ATIII is way better than my old K02's in road feel and so far offroad. Still waiting to see how they wear.

 

What size ATIII did you go with?
