Photoshop? What are you smoking? and to the other poster that said something about a big rock in the road? No. I went by the scene yesterday and if there had been rocks involved, it would have been much worse. The bank was pretty much dirt and gravel type rocks. BTW the report said he was doing 100 but that stretch of road won't handle that speed so high speed played a huge factor.
The news article " Deputies and TFPD EMS and Fire responded to a single vehicle accident on Highway 145 around mm86 (one mile west of Placerville). A pickup truck was spotted by a deputy driving an estimated 100 mph, nearly running several cars off the road, including the deputy. The driver lost control, struck the side of a cliff splitting the truck's cab from the frame and causing the engine to catch on fire. Passing motorists assisted the deputy in extinguishing the fire and extricating and the seriously injured driver. My reference to a rock was only a possibility based on the limited info. The other was that as you stated the individual ran off the road into the hill side. More info such as the additional photos shows a much clearer picture of the event.

This is why CMC are a bad idea, one can clearly see it doing the job... of course, with no cab, does it matter?

 

I'm not sure I see where a CMC would have been a problem.
