I throw money in every week or two. The best case scenario is a multi-year downturn, where you can just average in at low prices. I don't see it happening though, this will recover way to fast.

Everyone panic sold everything, bought all the TP and soup, then realized how dumb that was. That money has to go somewhere now that it's out of the market. Right back into the market it goes. That's what I think is going on.

3.3 million people filed for unemployment last week considering there are 327 million people in the U.S. what is that? a rise of 1%? Tell me if I’m wrong.

Yep, just like that the buying opportunity died  lol
Unless you were just being funny and that's fine too:D we can all use a bit of humor in these exciting and fun times

3.3 million jobless claims is what they're reporting?

Not getting into parties or anything of the sort, the stimulus package included $600 unemployment benefits per week for 4 months. That's 15 bucks an hour for a 40 hour week. I know people lost their jobs so far were earning all over the spectrum, but that's nuts.

No I was being serious. Still better buys than a few months ago, but not the generational buying opportunity I thought might come.

If we got down to 10,000 on the DOW (or if we do in the near future), I will throw money into the market that I shouldn't be investing. As of now, it's ok but not going to reel me in like that.

We're barely into the second course of this meal and people are already asking for a doggy bag thinking it's over. LOL Maybe they can get the wine poured in a plastic cup.

Looks like all the politicians made their money selling off everything with what they knew about the coming pandemic, and now people are realizing it's not Armageddon and buying into "bargain" prices after panic selling

Well I made a quick buck so I’m gonna quit watching the market so close now. I still put a lot in my 401k and will continue to do so; it’s maxed out in stocks. I’m gonna ride this pandemic out and see what happens. I might get back in the market, but I might not. We are bound to have a recession eventually I guess. This was a good buying opportunity though, I do agree.

I believe that’s in addition to the $400 a week those people would already be getting. Intent is to be able to fully cover salaries/hourly wages for up to four months

Agreed. Healthy debate is good, it's what makes this country work so well. I agree with a lot of what he says actually, just not all of it.

My rule I set myself is pay off truck first. But if the DOW falls to 10, 15 then maybe I break my own rules :| Problem is, it could drop from there too so I don't want to take that risk. Not until truck is paid off and the only bill I still have (that I depend on...) is the mortgage.

    Total boondoggle rescue plan

Go jockey a fryer basket and patties on a grill or sit home and collect $600 a week on top of your state unemployment benefits. People are going to abuse the hell out of this to get an endless summer. Let's not forget student loans are deferred. Just wait until the music stops, these people will be quick to pitch a fit

I owe my brother about $20k that I borrowed for a down payment. I’ve been making steady payments but threw extra cash into the market instead of at what I owe him because I couldn’t miss this opportunity. I’m up a couple grand in a month and I’m hoping that trend continues, so I can pay him back waaaay faster.
