one of my shelter in place activities was to remove rust and paint the underside of my pickup.

Ive always wanted to have some sick graphics on the skids so if I ever rolled it there would be a cool painting of an alien or a monster. while I had the skids off I decided to try my hand at painting a rocket ship. what do ya think?

I ordered on yesterday. I figured the price was right and you can pretty much go where ever you want. Plus, when that bitch-ass neighbor takes my space again? Fuck him! I'll park on top.

If you haven't heard, the Forest Service terminated the volunteer agreement it has with Stewards of the Sequoia. This was done because the District Ranger disagrees with some of what they have on their website and he uses the agreement and the language that says you have to represent the FS at all times and in a good light-in other words, no disagreement.
What's sad is that is the only reason. The FS has no issues, and is grateful for, with the work they've done for 15 or so years.

If you have benefited from the trail work they've done, sign the petition and let's see if we can renew that. And if you can, volunteer.

Sounds like Ranger Watson is a bit of a dick. Did he make a public statement that might alter my opinion?

Not really. The termination letter may be read in its PDF form and for the most part, it's an attempt to stifle disagreement by limiting what the signatories can say (1A). So as long as you support them, you're all good. Personally, it feels like the agreement was written not by the Forest Service.

That's a telling letter. If I had a volunteer group that was accusing my organization of stealing and spreading other inflammatory information, I would terminate the agreement too. There's no way any reasonable people would get rid of free labor and an amazing resource like SOTS, unless there were some egregious mistakes being made. Looks like SOTS needs to change their tone if they want to continue the relationship.

Don't bite the hand that feeds you. Hopefully they can come to a mutually agreeable resolution.

As for volunteer groups like SOTS, in my experience, there is no better resource than mountain bikers and recreational vehicle users for trail maintenance.

The only issue in my mind is one of free speech. Any organization is not allowed to speak negatively if they disagree with direction, proposals, etc.. Especially when it comes to the government.

The claims are a little inflammatory but then again, what isn't when it comes to environmental issues?

Our freedom of speech can get us banned here. The point is, what we say can build us bridges or dig our own grave. They could have created a more eloquent dialogue.

The key will be when you get the bumper back on. That's when you find out how well you did.

They're two different scenarios. TW is a private website with rules you and I agree to. And while it's true you catch more flies with honey, speaking out against the government is protected speech.

So a white truck with five letters on it gave me a box today. There's a breathing tube for my tacoma inside!
    Yay! Now the retrofit begins.

And they can go on doing so. That freedom hasn’t been curtailed at all. But don’t confuse freedom of speech with privileged access. If they wish to risk the loss of privileges unavailable to the general population they are free to do so.
