LOL. I had a great commander who used to be a USAF B52 Navigator and had a good sense of humor. He would occasionally have a saying " All Airspeed and No Heading". He passed away a few years ago but that brought back some good memories. Thanks!

I try to do them whenever I can. Unfortunately, I have to pass up on a lot of rescue flights due to the amount of time I'm on-call for work.

    Always!

My local airport is closed- well flight services/school. Very small airfield, and no more than 10 people really EVER there...except air shows...but the brain trust said so....so now I'm kicked back a month at least in training....smh. Can only chair fly so much...esp without a yoke or sim...Of course it's nothing for the out of work/no income folks at this point...

An update, all planes I rent are grounded. I get it, but I think the risk is minimal to just get in an hour of flight therapy. Airport staff are trying to protect themselves. Hopefully back flying in a month.

I'm anticipating a short notice trip tomorrow...The folks we flew to Mexico should probably start thinking about coming home unless they want to stay there for a long while.

When I was a flight instructor I used to tell my students that the knowledge portion of flight training is 60-70%. The stick and rudder skills will come with practice but it won’t mean much if you don’t understand the how’s and why’s of flying. I’d recommend you take this time to REALLY understand the airspace system, instrument’s, navigation, etc. If you’re good on that, start studying for your Instrument Rating!
    Just my 2¢.

Looks like I didn’t pay enough in my quarterly estimated taxes for the contract flying I did last year. Ugh.

    Time to fire the accountant!!

So did you just setup an LLC or something for your "contract service"? Curious how that works.

Maybe look for a Part 135 outfit. They pay half your taxes and you’ll fly more.

No, I thought about forming an LLC but I didn’t really see the benefit for the amount of contracting I was doing. If I thought I would make a career out of contracting, then I’d do it but otherwise I deemed it not worth the hassle to only contract for a little over a year.
I’ve been full-time 135 since October! So far I haven’t done a single contract trip since starting with the 135. I’m very happy to be full time and not contracting right now. Nobody’s flying and I’m still getting paid....for now...

You weren't the only one to get snagged in taxes for this filing.
